Knowing the towns of my country: Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa del Cerrito, more commonly known as Santa Rosa, is a small town located east of the city of Barquisimeto, in central western Venezuela.
It was founded in 1671 as an Indian village, a doctrine implemented by the Spanish colonizers since the second half of the 16th century in order to make the collection of taxes more efficient, increase the control and evangelization of the indigenous population and ensure available labor.
This town takes its name in honor of St. Rose of Lima, a Peruvian nun canonized on April 12 of the same year by Pope Clement X, who proclaimed her as Patron Saint of the New World and the Philippines.
Although it has certain similarities with the town of El Hatillo, located in the southeast of the city of Caracas, capital of the republic, among other reasons, for its rugged topography, its narrow streets and the location of the Plaza Bolivar (Bolivar Square) in the central part, the truth is that it does not have the wide range of gastronomic and commercial offerings with which it has its capital peer, rather, Santa Rosa is characterized by its bucolic and provincial atmosphere, being synonymous with spirituality and peace.
It has an environment where entire families who come to visit at any time of the year, can enjoy its viewpoint, the beauties offered by artisans and candy shops recognized in the area, besides having the opportunity to offer a prayer to the Divine Shepherdess (Divina Pastora), one of the Marian invocations of the Catholic Church, and that has a large number of parishioners, not only in Venezuela, but also throughout Latin America and Europe.
But regardless of the religious beliefs that one professes, or even in the absence of them, this town offers a space for rest and serene reflection for all its visitors.

Conociendo los pueblos de mi país: Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa del Cerrito, más comúnmente conocida como Santa Rosa, es un pequeño poblado ubicado al este de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, en el centro occidente venezolano.
Fundado en el año 1671 como pueblo de indios, una doctrina implementada por los colonizadores españoles desde la segunda mitad del Siglo XVI con la finalidad de hacer más eficiente el cobro de los tributos, aumentar el control y la evangelización de la población indígena y asegurarse mano de obra disponible.
Este pueblo toma su nombre en honor a Santa Rosa de Lima, una religiosa peruana canonizada el 12 de abril de ese mismo año por el papa Clemente X, quien la proclamó como Excelsa Patrona del Nuevo Mundo y las Filipinas.
Aunque posee ciertas similitudes con el pueblo de El Hatillo, situado en el sureste de la ciudad de Caracas, capital de la república, entre otras razones, por su topografía accidentada, sus estrechas calles y la ubicación de la la Plaza Bolívar en la parte central; lo cierto es que no posee la amplísima oferta gastronómica y comercial con la que cuenta su par capitalino, más bien, Santa Rosa se caracteriza por su ambiente bucólico y provinciano, siendo sinónimo de espiritualidad y paz.
Cuenta con un ambiente donde familias enteras que acuden a visitarla en cualquier época del año, pueden disfrutar de su mirador, de las bellezas que ofrecen los artesanos y las dulcerías reconocidas en la zona, además de tener la oportunidad de ofrecerle una plegaria a la Divina Pastora, una de las advocaciones marianas de la iglesia católica, y que cuenta con un gran número de feligreses, no sólo en Venezuela, sinó también en toda América Latina y Europa.
Pero más allá de cuales sean las creencias religiosas que se profese, o incluso, en ausencia de ellas; este pueblo ofrece un espacio propicio para el descanso y la reflexión serena para todos sus visitantes.
