Finding love and money is the greatest motivation in the world and as we get older we lose our fear of some things and become more risky in the subject of love, with technology many websites and dating apps have been born to find the ideal partner, this is how The Good Liar begins starring leading actress Betty McLeish as (Helen Mirren) with actor Roy Courtnay as (Ian McKellen). With jocularity we see how they relate to each other through their matchmaking accounts. Both lie about their personal tastes and hide their true intentions, creating a persona that is not real and so their first meeting takes place. Being two seniors they decide to speak frankly and be direct giving the viewer the illusion that it will be a cute senior love story, where one gets hurt by the lies of the other, the truth is that the couple looks so cute that they awakened in me a hint of romanticism, but there is nothing more wrong than that brief impression, from start to finish, The Good Liar will keep you glued to the screen between amazement and surprise.

Plot | Argumento

Helen Mirren is a lonely, sweet lady who claims to be a widow in search of company, she shows herself trusting and generous with whoever needs her helping her new friend Ian without fear of being swindled she opens the door of her home welcoming this poor man alone and sick, but she does not live totally alone her grandson accompanies her and watches over her safety, as the film progresses we learn that she is a professional woman, who lives modestly, but who owns a fortune product of her work and what she inherited from her former husband. On the other hand, we have Ian McKellen who appears to be a lonely man who had a child and do not communicate, sick with a knee ailment that prevents him from living in his apartment on the fourth floor and is the main reason to move in with his new friend, with a sense of humor that makes any woman fall in love, charming and protective. This is the character he uses to grab his victims, because his real personality is darker than we can imagine, ex-military, mafioso and murderer are some of his qualities. So far we could think how the events will develop, but I don't want to fall into spoilers. It's a movie where surprises are one after another, it has drama, comedy, intrigue and crime in a perfect balance. I would say it leans more towards psychological stress because of how it made me feel.

Helen Mirren es una dama solitaria, dulce que dice ser viuda en busca de compañía, se muestra confiada y generosa con quien la necesite prestando ayuda a su nuevo amigo Ian sin miedo a ser estafada abre la puerta de su hogar dando acogida a este pobre hombre solo y enfermo, pero ella no vive totalmente sola su nieto la acompaña y vela por su seguridad, a medida que avanza la película nos enteramos de que es una mujer profesional, que vive modestamente, pero que posee una fortuna producto de su trabajo y lo que heredó de su antiguo esposo. Por otra parte, tenemos a Ian McKellen que aparenta ser un hombre solo que tuvo un hijo y no se comunican, enfermo con dolencia en la rodilla que le impide vivir en su apartamento en el cuarto piso y es la razón principal para mudarse con su nueva amiga, con un sentido del humor que enamora a cualquier mujer, encantador y protector. Este es el personaje que usa para agarrar a sus víctimas, porque su verdadera personalidad es más oscura de lo que podemos imaginar, ex militar, mafioso y asesino son algunas de sus cualidades. Hasta aquí pudiéramos pensar cómo se desarrollarán los hechos, pero no quiero caer en spoiler. Es una película en la que las sorpresas están una detrás de otra, tiene drama, comedia, intriga y crimen en un equilibrio perfecto. Yo diría que se inclina más por el estrés psicológico por lo que me hizo sentir.

🎥 Its environment is changing and adapts to the story and the facts, changing cities and even countries, the characters travel to their past remembering their youth steps and observing their mistakes and that is what gives the denouement at the end of the movie and what made me reflect on the consequences of our actions, no matter how small a mistake may seem that can trigger negative actions and a lot of pain plus a thirst for revenge for a lifetime. Our actions have repercussions on others and, as everything comes back sooner or later, we will have to pay with what we love the most. 🎥 It is a good movie that I recommend, it entertained me and kept me with expectation all the time. The only thing I didn't like was the ending because I found it too fantastic and I think it overshadows the realism of the whole movie, but I still recommend it.

🎥 Su ambiente es cambiante y se adapta a la historia y los hechos, cambiando de ciudad incluso de país, los personajes viajan a su pasado recordando sus pasos de la juventud y observando sus errores y es lo que da el desenlace al final de la película y lo que me hizo reflexionar sobre las consecuencias de nuestros actos, por mínimo que parezca un error eso puede desencadenar acciones negativas y mucho dolor además de una sed de venganza para toda la vida. Nuestras acciones repercuten en los demás y, como todo se regresa tarde o temprano, tendremos que pagar con aquello que más queremos. 🎥 Es una buena película que recomiendo, me divirtió y me mantuvo con expectativa todo el tiempo. Lo único que no me gustó fue su final porque me pareció muy fantástico y considero que opaca el realismo de toda la película, pero aun así la recomiendo.
