A NIGHT IN THE WOOD
What a weekend! On Friday @stepko and @candelart came to Berlin to light up the forest with me at night. After we had strengthened ourselves with good Indian food, we made our way to the ruin in the forest. You can't get there by car, so we had to walk the last kilometre with our luggage. At 10:30 pm it was still almost 30°C and felt like 800% humidity. Even worse, however, were the 50 billion mosquitoes that were just waiting for our hands to be empty so they could suck all the blood out of our bodies. The mosquito spray even seemed to attract the beasts. Despite the adversity, we managed to do some very cool light paintings. I hope the two colleagues will show their pictures from this night soon.
Was für ein Wochenende! Am Freitag kamen @stepko und @candelart nach Berlin um mit mir nachts den Wald zu beleuchten. Nachdem wir uns bei gutem indischen Essen gestärkt hatten machten wir uns auf den Weg zur Ruine im Wald. Mit dem Auto kommt man nicht ran, den letzten Kilometer mussten wir mit dem Gepäck zu Fuß zurücklegen. Um 22:30 Uhr waren immer noch fast 30°C und gefühlte 800% Luftfeuchtigkeit. Noch schlimmer waren allerdings die 50 Milliarden Mücken, die nur daruf warteten, dass wir keine Hand mehr frei hatten um dann unser gesamtes Blut aus dem Körper zu saugen. Das Mückenspray schien die Bestien sogar noch anzulocken. Trotz der Widrigkeiten gelang es uns einige sehr coole Light Paintings umzusetzen. Ich hoffe, die beiden Kollegen zeigen ihre Bilder aus dieser Nacht auch recht bald.

First I had top model @stepko lit up with the DIY Light Scanner. In the second step, I lit the ruin inside with the Emisar D18 and orange colour filter. Then I lit the trees next to the ruin with the Emisar D18 without colour filter. I rotated the camera around the optical axis in 5 steps and repeated the lighting of the trees after each step. The picture, like the other pictures of that night, worked right away. That doesn't happen every day either.
Zuerst hatte ich Topmodel @stepko mit dem DIY Light Scanner eingeleuchtet. Im zweiten Schritt habe ich die Ruine innen mit der Emisar D18 und orangem Farbfilter beleuchtet. Dann hab ich die Bäume neben der Ruine mit der Emisar D18 ohne Farbfilter beleuchtet. Die Kamera habe ich in 5 Schritten um die optische Achse gedreht und nach jedem Schritt die Beleuchtung der Bäume wiederholt. Das Bild hat, wie die anderen Bilder dieser Nacht auch, auf Anhieb funktioniert. Das passiert auch nicht alle Tage.

In this version, I illuminated the trees with the RGB Critter. Otherwise, the procedure was the same as in the first picture. I really like the colours of the RGB Critter, even if the operation of the torch is terrible. In the last few days I had switched on the electronic lock-out so that the torch wouldn't accidentally switch on in my pocket. This also worked perfectly. The torch didn't switch on again because the battery was flat the next day. Great feature! Those are the moments when I would like to throw this miracle of technology into the dustbin with maximum momentum. But maybe the announced firmware update can appease me.
Bei dieser Variante habe ich die Bäume mit der RGB Critter beleuchtet. Ansonsten war der Ablauf wie beim ersten Bild. Mir gefallen die Farben die RGB Critter wirklich gut, auch wenn die Bedienung der Taschenlampe fürchterlich ist. Ich hatte in den letzten Tagen den elektronischen Lock out eingeschaltet damit die Taschenlampe sich nicht versehntlich in der Tasche einschaltet. Das hat auch wirklich perfekt funktioniert. Die Taschenlampe schaltete nicht mehr ein weil am nächsten Tag der Akku leer war. Großartiges Feature! Das sind so Momente wo ich dieses Wunderwerk der Technik am Liebsten mit maximalem Schwung in die Mülltonne werfen würde. Aber vielleicht kann das angekündigte Firmware Update mich besänftigen.

Here I first lit the ruin and the forest from the outside with the Emisar D18. In the second step I attached a colour filter in front of the head of the Emisar and illuminated the ruin from the inside. Then I used the RGB Critter to light the frame of the window in blue. Meanwhile, @stepko moved the zoom of the lens, which he had kindly provided me with, in small steps. Perfect teamwork, I would say.
Hier habe ich zuerst die Ruine und den Wald von außen mit der Emisar D18 beleuchtet. Im zweiten Schritt hab ich ein Farbfilter vor dem Kopf der Emisar befestigt und hab die Ruine von innen beleuchtet. Danach habe ich mit der RGB Critter den Rahmen des Fensters in blau beleuchtet. @stepko hat währenddessen den Zoom des Objektivs, welches er mir freundlicherweise zur Verfügung gestellt hatte, in kleinen Schritten bewegt. Perfekte Teamarbeit würde ich sagen.

In the end, I only lit the ruins with the Emisar D18 so that you could get an impression of what the location would look like without our lightpainting magic.
At around 3:30 am, it slowly became light again. We packed up our stuff and headed back. Thank you @stepko and @candelart for the wonderful trip and I am looking forward to our next adventure next weekend.As this was already my fifth visit to this special location I would like to show you some pictures from the previous visits.
Zum Schluss habe ich die Ruine nur mit der Emisar D18 beleuchtet damit ihr einen Eindruck davon habt wie die Location ohne unseren Lightpainting Zauber aussieht.
Gegen 3:30 Uhr wurde es dann langsam schon wieder hell. Wir packten unseren Kram zusammen und machten uns auf den Rückweg. Ich danke euch @stepko und @candelart für den wunderbaren Ausflug und freu mich schon auf unser nächstes Abenteuer am nächsten Wochenende.Da dies bereits mein fünfter Besuch dieser besonderen Location war möchte ich euch zum Abschluss einige Bilder von den vorherigen Besuchen zeigen.
