Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, goes by the name "city of temples". Everywhere you travel around Kathmandu street, you happen to pass by many temples around the city. Each of these temples have their own significance and history. I was going to my home after finishing my night shift work. And I think I should take the path where this temple is situated. It is during this festival time, the temple is decorated so beautifully. Actually, the greatest festival of Hindu i.e. Dashain has just ended recently and another second greatest festival is on the way. It is 12 days behind. And the temple is decorated for the same with the lighting. As in this festivals, lighting is the main important feature. The name of this temple is Maitidevi Temple. Inside the main temple was even beautiful but the gate was locked from outside as you can see in the last three pictures.
The name of this place and temple is derived from the Maitidevi goddess. The temple was supposed to have been established in 628 AD during Licchhavi dynasty. King Anshuverma was the ruler during the same period. However, the temple was turned into pagoda style (the current) in 20th century during the reign of Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher. People loved to go around here during night time to get refreshed and pray as well.
