Poise| Amazing portraits I created for Mrs. Jemima for her 47th birthday using a combination of feathered and Rembrandt lighting setup.

Barely a week ago, I was privileged to create photos for Mrs. Jemima's 47th year birthday. I called it a privilege because it's not every time I get to photograph people around that age group. The average age of my clientele is 25years. So I often shoot people between the ages of 23-30years. So yea, privilege.

Since I got deliberate with lighting, I learned that different lighting techniques can affect the mood of a photograph. I realized that certain lighting techniques suited some people more or some less. I can't say that there are standards to these things because I'm of the opinion that art is subjective. That means, whatever way a person decides to create his/her art, it doesn't make it less art.

Prior to the day of the shoot, I checked out profiles of photographers that photograph people around the age grade of Mrs. Jemima, and almost all had this soft glowing feel in their photos. I liked them, and I drew inspiration from seeing those photos. So yea, Rembrandt and feathered lighting was my go-to lighting technique for these set of portraits;

For a 47-year-old, Mrs. Jemima was fun to photograph. She had the vibes of youngin, and it was amazing. She cooperated with posing, and all we needed her to do. Since the session with her, I've been praying to get more clients within her age group. Especially the ones with such poise as her.

About the lighting technique, I wouldn't want to generalize but I'm sure almost everyone knows about Rembrandt lighting technique and feathering too. I feel like I don't have adequate knowledge for me to correctly talk about these lighting techniques, especially because I'm still learning them. However, if you don't know about those lighting techniques, you can check out Youtube, and you'll get loads of valuable information about them.

Did you think I nailed these photos? For a portrait session of this nature, what would have been your preferred lighting technique. Let me know in the comments section. Thank you!
