Catching Fishermen, Locals, and Camiguin

When the afternoon comes, our ladies sweep the grounds filled with dried leaves then set them on fire. Smoke gets into the air, smoke looks good from a distance, this is a typical scenario in the province. We still have that scene just like yesterday when my husband, baby, and I went out to buy some fruits and vegetables, we found the tire park with only a few people around, and so we decided to hop out of the car and capture some sceneries from the seawall.

Wave bubbles as it crashed into a huge block of cement. Our town's port area had experienced devastation during a storm, breaking the port and leaving the pieces on the seafloor, they are visible from where we were standing.

With a zoom lens, the shoreline was seen with fishing boats ready to sail. That spot below was where my grandparents lived. My grandfather was a fisherman, he stopped fishing at the age of 70. His skin is dark but his memories were sharp. He died at 97 years old. He was close to reaching a century old but heavens called him home three years earlier.

I remember my childhood as I look at the shore, when it's low tide, that shoreline would be filled with kids, friends, enemies, freniemies, mothers, neighbors, all there to either play or look for shells or else wait for fishermen to go out and carry their boats.

Today, as the pandemic is here, the shorelines are empty of kids, but fishermen are still around.

The camera was shifted to the nearer spot - the seawall in Sawang. There are benches in the area, these people here are busy with their mobile phones, the reality of this generation. Most of us are not interested in making conversation with strangers or acquaintances because we get too focused on our mobile devices. Such is very true today.

In just a few meters from the benches, the silhouettes of those who are swimming! The seawater here is clear although the sand is not white so it looks dark but the waters are clean. Piggeries were not allowed anymore thus making the waters even cleaner. There's proper disposal now compared to before, yet when we were still kids, we didn't really care, what mattered was just swimming.

The night is about to crawl in and we have to get back home. The last shot taken was this boat with Camiguin island at the back. A zoom lens makes the background look bigger thus this photo show how Camiguin looks like it is just nearby.

This island has been one of my top places to visit in 2019 but because of the pandemic, our flight got canceled and we were not able to visit it. It's just a neighboring island so my husband and I hope that sooner, we would be able to go there for a vacation.
