Magical Mid-Winter Biodiversity Vibes

Slice Of Life Across Spectrum In Durban

Shake off rainy weather followed by snow inland which brought the barometer down to low single figures for Durban, still in the positive we South African's tend to shake off, recover quickly, savour moments.

Perched chatting about politicians playing games, called sorting out matters at hand, no hands have been in the pot of late with beady eyes watching each other. Wish us well with our new Government of National Unity, waiting on the sidelines watching chess board movements.

Jade plant commonly grown crassula in South Africa in flower, making a pretty show in gentle pink/white clusters of blooms.

Succulents or fat plants, water-retaining plants adapted to arid climates or soil conditions. Not sure of the identity on researching would think it is the Rabiea albinota - S'keng-keng - Indigenous South African succulent.

Hardy, drought-resistant succulent ‘shrublet’ brings colour to the garden with its wine-red leaves strange stalk like extension appears in winter each year that appears to be the 'flower'.

Coral trees in bloom simply take your breath away, majestic in colour making their presence known in our winter months.

Broad-leaf coral tree up first with it cork like bark, an ideal home for woodpecker birds, slow growing dropping it's leaves during Autumn to showcase dazzling blooms. When Spring returns so do the exceptionally broad leaves.

The lucky bean tree most loved African coral tree offers animals, birds and insects. Zulu chiefs planted in traditional landscaping around villages and kraals. Only bird known to disperse trees lucky seeds is the brown-headed parrot.

Brown Pansy, or Brown Commodore, medium-sized butterfly with wingspan approximately 5cm. Enjoys coastal living in riverine forests and dense savannas, where butterfly flies low and slow through open areas in my garden.

What's coming down the road at me, seeing a white butterfly apparently a sign that you’re becoming more conscious of yourself, that you’re progressing in your mental development. Oh well it's neatly tucked away beneath a leaf for now....
