Vietnmease Market getting Fruit.

Vietnmease Market getting Fruit.

Hello Friends,

When it comes to Vietnamese markets, there's nothing quite like them. From the bright and vibrant fruits to the delicious meats and seafood, it's an experience like no other. And when it comes to getting your fruit fix, there's no better place to be than at a Vietnamese market. From ripe and juicy watermelons to fresh and fragrant dragon fruits, there's something for everyone. So next time you're in Vietnam, be sure to check out a market and experience the truly colorfully deliciousness that is Vietnamese fruit.

Here in Vietnam, we have a typhoon that is on course to hit Tuesday night and into Wednesday; as such, it was the time to go get stocked up on some foods, just in case that typhoon was a bit too much. That meant a trip to the local market. Walking the wet streets, checking out the bountiful piles of fruity colors and sights.

Here are some photos from my morning walk in the market and some commentary.

Fruity Poem

So round and smooth is the fruit,
The skin is a colorful blur,
Painfully shaped,
Yet so intimidatingly they're so sweet
When you bite into one.
Vietnamese fruity fruit
You can eat them all and keep down your weight,
If you eat enough and stay up late.

My friend Jenny and I went to the market, from the pictures I took this morning, I think this is the best one. It captures the moment; I think, well... piles of fruit, stalls, shops, the market alive.

The Dragonfruit is perhaps my favorite fruit. MEGA is tasty, healthy for you, has a cool name, and looks badass!

Speaking of Dragon Fruit, you know of One Peice?

If you're looking for a fun, light-hearted TV show to watch, look no further than One Piece! This anime follows the adventures of a group of pirates as they search for the legendary treasure, One Piece. Along the way, they'll face danger and adventure, and make new friends (and enemies) along the way. And, of course, they'll eat lots of delicious fruit that gives them strange super powers like the Gum Gum fruit... I think the dragon fruit is like that.

There were a bunch of veggies as well, like this. I just want to dice, cook, and eat it all.

This is the back side of the market. This place has been busy, and bustling for a long time, like years. to see the life of the building in photos like this and the next one, its that age that is sweet!

Like these baskets... how many times were they used? How many times back and forth from the farms, from Thailand? Who knows. I get they have stories to tell.

This lady was quite lovely in helping us get some oranges.

Here is she again. Every day, she comes here and sells oranges and watermelons. I wonder if she is happy.

A patina is something that develops over time, and in this case, it's a beautiful one. This wall has been through a lot of life, and it shows. Every mark, every smudge, every bit of dirt and grime is a story. This wall has seen laughter and tears, happiness and sorrow. It's been a witness to births and deaths, to first steps and last words. And through it all, it's still standing. Strong and proud and beautiful.

Ah, the market... An excellent way to spend a morning before the rains come.
