Summertime Sadness - Summer is over period

Light Painting session with Natalia T. Part1

Today is officially the beginning of Autumn!

The internet is a fantastic networking tool. Of course, I use multiple different platforms and showcasing and connection tools (You should use Tinder like that). This way (not Tinder!) I got to know Natalia who I started working with last week. Here I share with you the first results of our test "get-to-know-each-other" Light Painting session.

As always when it is supposed to be easy you select the tools you know best and experimenting is for yet another day. So I used the Black fiber Brush to stay on the safe side.

What was the setup?

What you see as Light Painting is a single 48 long exposure time photograph. The camera was set to ISO 100 and the Canon 24-105mm F4 lens was set to F11.

Yes, but how?

Throughout the exposure, Natalia just sat perfectly very still. She got really good at it. Ok, we understand that part. At first, I used a flashlight and lit her up from left and right, secondly I applied the fiber optic brush to accentuate the image with some magic. The camera was open for the entire process, what you see in the featured shot is not a composite image but one with no Photoshop effects.

Während der Belichtung saß Natalia einfach vollkommen still da.

At first a simple lighting test. Once standard lighting works we can move forward and introduce light painting features.

The magic

An everyday portrait is achieved by a good set up but the actual image is taken with a simple push of a button. Here there is a full-on process. To make it all worth it, we wanna see at least some little effects that make your mind wonder, "How?"

The magical effects of Light Painting.

Thank you Natalia for this wonderful session. Hope we find time for another round.

Here you see the fiber optic brushes I used to get the fire trails in the image. You can visit my page to see more about this technique.

Here is the video tutorial on YouTube about How I use the black fiber optic brush.

The tools

here you can see what the brushes look like:

For these images, I used the black one. Still, my favorite tool for Light Painting, because it always has this unpredictable aspect to every image.

I hope you found these images inspirational. If you have more questions please do not hesitate. I am happy to share my knowledge.

If you think this is Spam, why did you read this far and why the fuck bother you? Move on from your self-righteous mind state and bury yourself. Don't bother about what others may find interesting. Just stay in your bubble and ...

All there is left to say is Cheer Up!
