On the Roads of Colorado - From Greenery to Desert

In this post, I have a couple of shots to show you that were taken on the roads of Colorado. Our mission on that day was to drive from Aspen to Grand Junction which is in the west Colorado, pretty much next to the Utah border. The drive itself was about 180km and took a little over 2 hours.

It was extremely interesting for me to see how the landscape and appearance changed over this drive. Aspen has lush green forests everywhere, While on this drive, the colors drastically change and after about 150km or less you are already in a full-on desert.

I have already uploaded this photo but for reference, this was the scenery in the Aspen area.

This is 50km to the west of Aspen. You can already see that the scenery has changed and yellow/red tones can be seen on the mountain.

Photos were taken by my girlfriend cause I was driving.

When we were close to Grand Junction already, the scenery was pretty much full of desert. There was a canyon where we drove through alongside the Colorado River. I don't know if the canyon has a name, Google Maps does not show any name there. It was a really cool place to drive through.

After the Canyon, we were in Grand Junction. With the scenery, the temperature also changed drastically. In Aspen, we had 18C (64F) but upon arrival at Grand Junction, we had 33C (92F). The altitude between these places is also very different. Aspen is at 8000ft (2450m) and Grand Junction sits at 4800ft (1450m)

We didn't see the Grand Junction much, we just drove through there. Our destination was an extremely scenic place named Colorado National Monument and Rim-Rock Drive. Will show you this very soon!
