On the last day of our travels in Porto Santo, we decided to visit an interesting place that stands out compared to other places on the island. It is named Quinta das Palmeiras and looks like an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Most of the island of Porto Santo looks like a desert. Not many trees or large plants grow in nature. This place however is a green speck in the middle of a sandy landscape. Quinta das Palmeiras is actually a mini zoo where you can find a surprisingly large variety of animals. Most of them are birds tho.

This actually a project just one guy accomplished. It was pretty hard to grow all these plants in this garden and water has to be transported there by a truck to sustain this place.
Loved seeing all the different, colorful, and exotic birds. One parrot even talked. Said hello to me and even something more but I didn't make it out what it tried to say. Said hello at least 3 times lol.
The birds and animals you saw in the photos were only some examples of what there is to see. It looks like a really small place which it really is but the variety is crazy. For sure a special place to visit when traveling to Porto Santo.
