Drone & lasers show at FITS 2022 (Part 6)

Hello everyone and happy weekend, yay! 💜

It's been a long and beautiful period where in the last few weeks I managed to share unique moments from FITS 2022 which also brought a little more diversity to my wall of published articles. But as anything has a beginning, so it has an ending too.

So I'll resume this post with more photos than words since sometimes not even one thousand words will manage to describe a picture. All the shapes you are going to see are created by drones and lasers which replaced the fireworks that usually announce the beginning and the ending of FITS.

This is actually the 3rd year since Sibiu started using either drones, laser shows, or confetti to replace the fireworks even on New Year's Eve. This is something that makes me both happy and sad knowing how spectacular fireworks are but it's better like this considering all the disaster and chaos created for the older people and animals, so I hope the initiative will be adopted by more cities from Romania soon.

Along with the round and rectangular shapes that seemed a bit easier to be formed, there was also a rose, the portrait of Charlie Chaplin, a violin, a hand playing it, and a lot more. Most of these also acted like GIFs which kept moving... like the portrait that was taking the hat on and off with the hand, the star which was rotating, and the rose that moved its leaves similar to how they look when being blown by the wind.

I was also impressed by how fast a new image was formed on the sky without seeing drones hitting each other or creating errors, so I really appreciate the efforts made by those behind the 200 controllers.

However, while everyone has different limits when it comes to how good or bad a festival is considered, for me, it's enough to say that I wasn't stopped by the heavy rain, nor by the feet pain and back pain felt daily for 10 days in a row caused by spending at least 10 hours in each day dancing, sitting on the ground, singing or simply walking from a place to another to attend the shows. All these still made me return home with a big smile on my face and hundreds of new memories captured with the phone, already looking forward to the next day of the festival.

So with these thoughts, and the over 100,000 people that attended the show in just one day, I think it's pretty easy to understand how beautiful and impressive the 29th edition of Sibiu International Theatre Festival really was. And I'm looking forward to the magic happening in two weeks when FITS 2023 will begin.
