When I found myself in this place, I would be amazed at the beauty. It was one of the locations for my 2018 German tour. Imagine how stone pillars rise to the sky in the middle of the forest. They are narrow and tall and resemble the fingers of a giant hand that reaches up from the bowels of the earth.
These rocky fingers are located right above the Elbe River. At this point, the river has a steep loop.
Abyss and cliffs create an amazing and crazy experience for tourists. The so-called Artists' Trail (Malerweg) runs here. In addition, such an extraordinary natural phenomenon has been repeatedly depicted in art and cinema.
Islets of a pine forest and solitary trees growing in the most inaccessible and unexpected places make this stone element surprisingly alive.
According to history, at the very beginning of the 19th century, shops and an observation deck were built here. In the 1820s, a bridge and a restaurant were built in this picturesque place.
