2022 seemed to have started decently, when in January, here in Italy, the days were sunny and a little warm. The sea in Winter has an inner aspect I simply adore, because it makes me calm, peaceful like nothing else, not even like the Summer sea can make me. With @castles we decided to spend a little bit of our time together exploring the natural beauty of the seaside near Latina, just to leave home and spend some quality time immersed into nature. It happened to be a beautiful January Sunday and we did nothing but relax on the shore.
May these following pictures of a peaceful day into the nature portray the nearest future for Europe and the whole world, and may those in pain find peace and happiness soon again together with those they love.
Circeo Mount is one of those views my eyes can never get sick of simply because it's a place of my childhood, a view my person is very attached to. Everybody has their own special place they find again the mental peace and shelter for the soul... Circeo shoreline up until Terracina is mine. May be not everybody here knows of the legend behind Mount Circeo...
"... Behold, and to the island Eèa we reached, where Circe lived, Circe with beautiful curls, the mighty singing diva, who was sister of Eèta, lord of ferocious mind."
(Odyssey, Canto X, vv. 135-137)
According to the legend and the story narrated in the Odyssey, Ulysses entered with his ship the "Cala dei Pescatori", a cave on Lake Paola, nearby Mount Circeo, and there he was spelled by sorceress Circe whos facial profile is still today visible in the Circeo mount profile. So from the Odyssey we can read:

Above our heads, to make the blue sky even more beautiful, brighter, and colorful, a paraglider was flying over the shore and captured everybody's attention. He looked so free and proud, like he was the master of both the sky and the sea. I took many pictures of him because I loved the way he was flying over us and the way the midday sunrays were beating him reminding me of a wiser version of Icarus. Here I tried to create a sort of puzzle and sequence of shots to give you a sense of the sensations he make feel to those who were seating and relaxing down on the shore, and suddenly got covered by the his shadows, like a giant bird passing by. It was especially amazing to me because I had never seen an electric paragliding and indeed I did not even know about its existence!However, in that area of Latina, it is pretty common to see them, especially in the inner lands.
Indeed, there is a mount in Ancient Norba from which the height and wind conditions are considered the best for paragliders to launch themselves into the void! I really do not know how they do it and I would be so scared that I'm not sure I could ever try it!
@castles was completely focused on the paraglider as much as I was: all eyes were on him while he was enjoying flying here and there above the people's heads on the shore. Definitely, Master of Sea and Sky!
After a while, the paraglider probably thought it was enough and left that area, so my attention then was grabbed by a small fishing boat, the only one boat in the sea at that moment. It was beautiful how the midday sun rays reflected on the sea surface and when the boat passed precisely in front of them, it created a magical atmosphere.
We were not the only ones admiring and enjoying the sea, and when I turned my camera towards the mount, I saw a film frame made of the Circeo silhouette, the rock of the port with its green and red light towers, and a dad with his kid standing on the shore... to me it was the most relaxing view for a moment.
...and that was not even the end of the beauties for the day!
Suddenly, another outstanding surprise for our eyes just came over! A group of people riding horses along the shore, right in front of us, provided us with an authentic filmic experience.
Looking at these people, this group of friends, doing a special horse ride on the sea, made me wanting to do it too. Indeed, with a friend of mine, it's been years since we first talked about going for a horse ride on the sea, because none of us have never done it. I gotta admit actually that I've never ridden a horse at all! That's one of those things you do first when you're a child but my parents never made me do it so childhood is over but still I want to do my first horse ride!
The elegance of the horses and the way they were galloping in front of me, making me take good backlight shots, made me so happy just like a child. I was so happy to see them!
Some horses just were walking slowly, and others, leaded by the person riding, were running fast on the shore, capturing everybody's attention!
While I was trying to enjoying as much as possible those moments, the air started to be a little chilly, and we wanted to head back to our car to warm our cold hands and feet. Indeed, we were lying down on the shore for more than two hours and in January the sun is not very warm after 3 pm. I wanted to stay so bad for longer, but we would have just frozen ourselves!
While walking back towards our car, the last instants of beautiful magic were waiting for me to photograph them and so did I.
My camera battery was still alive and made me take advantage of some blurry shots taken on our car ride towards a friend of ours' place who invited us for the rest of the afternoon
Passing by the sea lakes was so beautiful while approaching the golden hour, and the natural reserve of Fogliano always provides with some natural gems which are just around the corner, unexpectedly! It's crazy how far we would go to see and explore things while sometimes the beauties we might enjoy are just down our place, near our homes or hometowns. We must always be proud and happy of the places we live in and are from, because they are part of our personas, souls, and minds, no matter how far we go and how busy we are to see them. And always be thankful and blessed for the Earthlings we are surrounded with.

Il 2022 sembrava essere iniziato decentemente, quando a gennaio, qui in Italia, le giornate erano soleggiate e un po' calde. Il mare d'inverno ha un aspetto interiore che semplicemente adoro, perché mi rende calma, serena come nient'altro, nemmeno come il mare d'estate può farmi sentire. Con @castles abbiamo deciso di trascorrere un po' del nostro tempo insieme esplorando le bellezze naturali del mare vicino a Latina, solo per uscire di casa e trascorrere del tempo di qualità immersi nella natura. Era una bella domenica di gennaio e non abbiamo fatto altro che rilassarci sulla riva.
Possano queste immagini che seguono di una tranquilla giornata nella natura rappresentare il futuro più vicino per l'Europa e il mondo intero, e che coloro che soffrono trovino presto pace e felicità insieme a coloro che amano.
Il Monte Circeo è una di quelle viste di cui i miei occhi non si stancano mai semplicemente perché è un luogo della mia infanzia, una vista a cui la mia persona è molto legata. Ognuno ha il suo posto speciale, dove ritrova la pace mentale e il riparo per l'anima... Il litorale del Circeo fino a Terracina è il mio posto. Forse non tutti qui conoscono la leggenda dietro il Monte Circeo...
"...Ecco, e all'isola Eèa giungemmo, dove abitava Circe, Circe dai bei riccioli, la possente diva cantante, che era sorella di Eèta, signore di animo feroce."
(Odissea, Canto X, vv. 135-137)
Secondo la leggenda e la storia narrata nell'Odissea, Ulisse entrò con la sua nave nella "Cala dei Pescatori", una grotta sul lago di Paola, nei pressi del monte Circeo, e lì fu stregato dalla maga Circe il cui profilo è ancora oggi visibile in quello del monte Circeo. Quindi dall'Odissea possiamo leggere:

Sopra le nostre teste, per rendere il cielo azzurro ancora più bello, luminoso e colorato, un parapendio sorvolava la riva e catturò l'attenzione di tutti. Sembrava così libero e orgoglioso, come se fosse il padrone sia del cielo che del mare. Gli ho fatto molte foto perché amavo il modo in cui volava sopra di noi e il modo in cui i raggi del sole di mezzogiorno lo illuminavano ricordandomi una versione più saggia di Icaro. Qui ho cercato di creare una sorta di puzzle e una sequenza di inquadrature per darti un senso delle sensazioni che lui faceva provare a coloro che erano seduti e rilassati sulla riva, e all'improvviso sono stati coperti dalle sue ombre, come un uccello gigante che passava di lì. Per me è stato particolarmente sorprendente perché non avevo mai visto un parapendio elettrico e anzi non sapevo nemmeno della sua esistenza! Tuttavia, in quella zona di Latina, è abbastanza comune vederli, soprattutto nelle terre interne.
Infatti c'è un monte nell'Antica Norba la cui l'altezza e il vento sono considerate le condizioni migliori per i parapendisti per lanciarsi nel vuoto! Non so davvero come facciano e sarei così spaventata che non sono sicura che potrei mai provarlo!
@castles era completamente concentrato sul parapendio tanto quanto me: tutti gli occhi erano puntati su di lui mentre si divertiva a volare qua e là sopra le teste delle persone sulla riva. Senza ombra di dubbio, era Maestro del Mare e del Cielo!
Dopo un po', probabilmente, il parapendio ha pensato che ne aveva abbastanza e ha lasciato quella zona, quindi la mia attenzione è stata catturata da un piccolo peschereccio, l'unico in mare in quel momento. Era bellissimo come i raggi del sole di mezzogiorno si riflettessero sulla superficie del mare e quando la barca passava proprio davanti a loro creava un'atmosfera magica.
Non eravamo gli unici ad ammirare e goderci il mare, e quando ho girato la macchina fotografica verso il monte ho visto un fotogramma fatto della sagoma del Circeo, lo scoglio del porto con le suoi torri rosse e verdi, e un papà con suo figlio in piedi sulla riva... per me è stata la vista più rilassante per un momento.
...e quella non era nemmeno la fine delle bellezze della giornata!
Improvvisamente, un'altra straordinaria sorpresa per i nostri occhi spuntò dal nulla! Un gruppo di persone a cavallo lungo la riva, proprio di fronte a noi, ci ha regalato un'autentica esperienza cinematografica.
Guardando queste persone, questo gruppo di amici, che facevano una speciale passeggiata a cavallo sul mare, ha fatto venire voglia di farlo anche a me. Infatti, con una mia amica, sono passati anni da quando abbiamo parlato per la prima volta di fare una passeggiata a cavallo sul mare, perché nessuna di noi l'ha mai fatto. Devo ammettere che in realtà non ho mai cavalcato un cavallo! È una di quelle cose che fai prima quando sei un bambino, ma i miei genitori non me l'hanno mai fatto fare quindi anche se la mia infanzia è finita da un pezzo romai, voglio comunque fare la mia prima passeggiata a cavallo!
L'eleganza dei cavalli e il modo in cui galoppavano davanti a me, facendomi scattare belle foto in controluce, mi rendevano così felice proprio come un bambino. Ero così felice di vederli!
Alcuni cavalli camminavano lentamente e altri, guidati dalla persona che cavalcava, correvano veloci sulla riva, catturando l'attenzione di tutti!
Mentre stavo cercando di godermi il più possibile quei momenti, l'aria ha iniziato a essere un po' fredda e volevamo tornare alla nostra macchina per scaldarci mani e piedi freddi. In effetti, siamo stati sdraiati sulla riva per più di due ore e a gennaio il sole non è molto caldo dopo le 15:00. Volevo restare così tanto più a lungo, ma ci saremmo semplicemente congelati!
Mentre tornavo verso la nostra macchina, mi aspettavano gli ultimi istanti di bella magia da fotografare, e così feci!
La batteria della mia fotocamera era ancora viva e mi ha fatto approfittare di alcuni scatti sfocati fatti durante il nostro viaggio in macchina verso casa di un nostro amico che ci aveva invitato per il resto del pomeriggio...
Passare lungo la zona dei laghi della pianura pontina è stato così bello mentre si avvicinava la cosiddetta "golden hour", e la riserva naturale di Fogliano offre sempre delle gemme naturali che sono dietro l'angolo, inaspettatamente! È pazzesco fino a che punto andremmo per vedere ed esplorare le cose mentre a volte le bellezze di cui potremmo godere sono proprio qui vicino a noi, vicino alle nostre case o città natali. Dobbiamo essere sempre orgogliosi e felici dei luoghi in cui viviamo e da cui proveniamo, perché fanno parte delle nostre persone, anime e menti, non importa quanto lontano andiamo e quanto siamo impegnati a fare altro per vederli. E siamo sempre grati e fortunati per tutti gli esseri di cui siamo circondati.
La storia della nostra giornata di mare invernale è già finita! Spero ti sia piaciuto leggere questa esperienza!
