a spring walk in the beech forest

if you want to experience spring at it's best the beech forest that crowns Larvik is a good choice

on a bright sunny day in early May

new leaves are unfolding

and the wood anemones are in full bloom

covering most of the forest floor in green and white

while the trees in the forest are almost exclusively beech, on the edge there are occasional maples and mountain ash

and when you reach the top there are a few benches where the view over the fjord is amazing.

by June the leaves will block most of the view

there is plenty of new growth

the forest is well maintained

with year-round trails perfect for skiing in the winter and walking the rest of the year.
