A Bird in the Hand ....

While we were at a local nature reserve, the robins took food from your hand. The birds here are obviously used to people being around, so they don't see anyone as too much of a threat.

You can start by putting food nearby, whether it's on a gate post or on the floor.

With a bit of patience, the robin will eventually have the courage to feed from your hand like this little one did.

In British folklore, robins can symbolise new beginnings and good luck. Other people believe they represent bad luck. Source Believe what you will.

This robin helped itself to some food before looking at the camera ...

.... and then flying off! It returned a few times before flying off for good.
