Hello hivers, how are you?
Today I would like to write about the buffalo, the symbol of the agriculture of our country Vietnam. Ever since then, the image of the buffalo has been imprinted in our cultural, religious and economic life.
The buffalo is the farmer's friend
Our country is an agricultural country, we mainly grow rice and other agricultural products such as corn, potatoes, cassava, ... Before we had modern machines like today to serve the work. The buffalo plays an extremely important role in agricultural production. Therefore, Vietnamese people have proverbs such as "Con trâu là đầu cơ nghiệp", which means "The buffalo is the head of the business", or "Tậu trâu, cưới vợ, dựng nhà" which means "Buying a buffalo, getting married, building a house" are the three big things in the life of a Vietnamese man.
Buffalo is an endless inspiration in art
Because of the great role of the buffalo in the lives of Vietnamese people, it has become an endless source of inspiration for poetry, paintings, music, movies, etc. There have been countless works of art taking the buffalo as a main theme. Until now, life has become more modern, the buffalo is still an attractive subject for artists. In the religious life, the buffalo is one of our 12 Zodiacs. It symbolizes strength, loyalty, gentleness, industriousness, positivity, hard work and honesty.
Buffalo is a beautiful childhood
The buffalo is the beautiful childhood of many of us. In our memories, beautiful images of the afternoons going to graze buffalo in the fields, riding buffalo, flying kites, playing flute will follow us for the rest of our lives. Maybe in the pressent modern life, the image of the buffalo has faded away, but every time I return to my hometown and see the buffalo, I feel refreshed and the beautiful childhood images reappear in me.

Of the many annual buffalo festivals across the country, Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival is probably the biggest one. Taking place on the 9th day of the 8th in lunar calendar every year, it always attracts a large number of buffalo from many different regions as well as tourists to participate. The buffalo participating in the festival are carefully chosen, raised and trained. They come to the festival carrying the pride of the locals they represent.
