Hive treat New Camera

Every now and then I like to cash in a bit of Hive and give myself a treat. This time it's a new Camera well new to me anyway.

I have been looking for an Olympus OMD E-M5 II for a long time probably since it came out in 2015 if I’m honest. Part of the Olympus OMD 4/3 camera family it's the middle of the range between the EM10 entry model and the Pro EM1. But recently Olympus brought out a new model so the price of the older cameras has dropped quite a bit which can give some great deals like the one I got with an ex-demo camera with only 700 shots in as new condition for around 1/4 the price of a new one.

For traveling the Olympus OMD cameras have some great advantages over a full-size SLR Camera size-wise they are smaller and lighter with great quality Zuiko zoom lenses

the camera body and a 14-42 + a 40-150 zoom weigh less than 0.8 of a KG

And being 4/3 format the lenses give the equivalent of 28mm wide-angle to a 300mm telephoto so good for most photo opportunity’s and it does take amazing photos
This was my first one messing around in the garden.

This is the first real camera I have owned for a long time and if I’m honest I’m a bit rusty the EM5 is quite complicated with loads of features and 4 programmable function buttons the menu system takes some getting used to,

But fortunately, as the camera has been out for a while there are hundreds of great tutorials on YouTube that have been a great help with getting to know the camera and some hands-on training.

But with everything Hivers there is a downside. New cameras mean new filters, batteries, more lenses, and gadgets so I guess I’d better cash in a few more Hive$ and get cracking. Who knows you might even see some better photos from me eventually.
