Black & white photography - Landscape in southern Norway (8 photos)

DSC_01.jpg

These fotos were taken on a hike in Kvinesheia, which is located in the southern part of Norway. The area is completely covered in forest with a few open spaces and small lakes. I have chosen the black and white version to get a "darker" feeling with the forrested areas. It was was spring and very green in reallity. When we were on this daytrip, we walked for more than 6 hours without passing a house. My friend and I were completely alone untill we saw the village, where our hike ended. The photos were all taken on the first section of a 136 km. long trail, starting outside the city of Kvinesdal, running through 9 municipalities, ending near Grimstad in the east. We had just started on a trail of « The Child Wanderes».

This phenomen of young children walking lang distances from their homes to work during the summer on larger farms in the east, is very special for Agder county. This took place in the years between 1720 -1910. They started to walk in april and returned in autumn. Why the did this, had to do with powerty. The families were large, the farms small and a bad year meant less food.

I have allready done a post the Child Wanderes:
Norway – A walk in the footsteps of children on the Child Wanderers Trail
