That Time I Rented A Horse in Mongolia 🤷

I hate winter. Winter in Scotland is very depressing. It's cold, windy and it rains all the time. It rarely snows and when it does it's usually what we Scottish folk call sleet... Just a wet grey mess that makes driving a complete farse.

So in October 2010 I thought... "Fuck this shite". I woke up hungover on the 5th of October, got my nose pierced and spent all my money on train tickets to Russia. I knew that when I arrived my last paycheck from my waiting job at Loch Fyne would land in my account and from the ominous crooks of Putin's Moscow I would embark on a journey East following in the footsteps of my favorite travel writers.

I pasted through various parts of Russia before moving through Mongolia into China. All these images are B-Roll shots from Mongolia that I never did anything with.

I think it's important to keep all your original images long after you've filtered out what you think are the best ones.

From my experience, reviewing your shots a decade later might just yeild different results. These aren't the best images in the world but they definitely don't deserve the dastardly and permanent depths of Windows Trash Bin.

(I rented a horse 🐴😬)

What did I think of Mongolia? Well, it was remote and vast. The wilderness was breathtaking, I could imagine another suitable word to describe it. The capital city was taste of the pollution and filth I'd experience in China, however more isolated. My experience of China included train rides of over 24 hours of pure machinery, deforestation, factories, smoke and greyness, it was harrowing.
