A day of extreme sport that I remember with great affection

My entry to Qurator's Photo Quest | Extreme Sports

Many years ago during a work visit to Costa Rica I enjoyed a nice and "peaceful water ride" on the Pacuare River.

The "walk" I took with 5 wonderful people I met during my week of work in Costa Rica and who belonged to the instrumentation distributor who hired me to give some training. But as you can see we were equipped with vests and helmets and the river was not as tame as it was at the beginning of the excursion.

It didn't take us long to get to some rapids that according to the Paraguayan instructor, who had participated in the Olympic Games in whitewater rafting, were of category 3 and 4.

But the most extreme moment was when we faced a category 5 rapid. That is the highest category in rafting.

Writing these lines I remember the excitement of facing the whirlwind of water with courage and adrenaline to the fullest.

But unconscious of me you can see how my fist was raised in the middle of the rapid, celebrating the victory of overcoming it without losing the units that made up the boat.

And the ecstasy of achieving a group victory with our paddles up high.

Obviously, I could not take pictures, but as I wanted to immortalize the moment and be able to relive it at any time, I hired a photographer to take pictures of us on the route and these are some of the photos I have practicing an extreme sport such as rafting.

Best regards.
