Supermoon
As announced in the last post, here follows another one from Sarakiniko Beach on Milos. The day before my light paintings with steel wool, the super moon was above Sarakiniko beach. I liked the light, but there were too many people in this place because of the moon, so I couldn't use steel wool there for safety reasons. So I decided to take a few test shots first to test the lighting for the final image. You see the result in the cover photo below.
Wie bereits im letzten Beitrag angekündigt, folgt hier ein weiterer vom Sarakiniko Strand auf Milos. Am Tage vor meinen Lightpaintings mit Stahlwolle stand der Supermond über dem Strand von Sarakiniko. Das Licht gefiel mir schon gut, nur waren an diesem Ort wegen des Mondes zu viele Menschen unterwegs, so das ich dort aus Sicherheitsgründen keine Stahlwolle einsetzen konnte. Also entschloss ich mich erst ein paar Probeaufnahmen zu machen, um die Lichtsetzung für das finale Bild zu testen. Dabei entstand das Titelbild unten.
Making of
In the cover photo above, Geane has hidden behind a rock and after I illuminated the scene, she shined the flashlight directly in the direction of the camera, resulting in the star in the center. The shadow of the stones and the different colors make a sleeping moon appear in the picture. I was very happy with this result.
A Canon EOS 6D Mark II with LAOWA 12mm F2.8 lens was used.
The ISO was set to 200. The picture was taken in an exposure lasting 47 seconds at an aperture of 11.
Im Titelbild oben hat Geane sich hinter einem Stein versteckt und nachdem ich die Szene ausgeleuchtet habe, mit der Taschenlampe direkt in die Richtung Kamera geleuchtet, was den Stern in der Mitte ergibt. Der Schatten der Steine und die unterschiedliche Farbgebung lassen im Bild einen schlafenden Mond erscheinen. Mit diesem Ergebnis war ich sehr zufrieden.
Zum Einsatz kam eine Canon EOS 6D Mark II mit LAOWA 12mm F2.8 Linse.
Die ISO war auf 200 eingestellt. Das Bild wurde in einer Belichtung mit einer Dauer von 47 Sekunden bei einer Blende 11 aufgenommen.
As you can see, we weren't the only photographers on set. In the background you can see a group of Chinese who used the sunset for their photos.
Geane enjoys the sunset before the light painting starts. There was a shift change on the set.
Wie man sieht, waren wir nicht die einzigen Fotografen am Set. Im Hintergrund sieht man eine Gruppe Chinesen, die den Sonnenuntergang für ihre Aufnahmen nutzten. Geane genießt den Sonnenuntergang bevor es mit dem Lightpainting losgeht.
Here is the camera setting in daylight. If you look closely, you can already see the face of the moon.
Hier die Kameraeinstellung bei Tageslicht. Wenn man genau hinschaut, erkennt man schon das Mondgesicht.
Around midnight we were finally able to get going, lighting up the rocks from a steep angle with an Ants on a Melon RGB CRITTER.
Gegen Mitternacht konnten wir endlich loslegen und leuchteten die Felsen aus einem steilen Winkel mit einer RGB CRITTER von Ants on a Melon an.
Then I illuminated the moon face with a Klarus XT11 GT with attached adapter and orange color filter from Light Painting Paradise.
I was satisfied with the result. Only the kick was missing. Instead of the rain of fire, which I didn't want to use for the reasons mentioned above, I placed Geane with a Lightpaintingparadise flashlight at the point where the volcano was supposed to erupt later and let it shine into the camera. With that, the title picture was in the can.
Danach beleuchtete ich das Mondgesicht mit einer Klarus XT11 GT mit aufgestecktem Adapter und orangenem Farbfilter von Light Painting Paradise. Mit dem Ergebnis war ich schon zufrieden. Nur fehlte noch der Kick. An Stelle des Feuerregens, den ich aus oben genannten Gründen nicht einsetzen wollte, platzierte ich Geane mit einer Lightpaintingparadise Taschenlampe an die Stelle, wo der Vulkan später ausbrechen sollte und lies sie in die Kamera leuchten. Damit war das Titelbild im Kasten.

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?
Light painting is a unique form of art. The darkness is illuminate by the artist with diverse light sources and light traces are paint into the picture with various light tools. Various techniques are use, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. All the pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, the pictures are not processed on the computer.
