Cosmos is one of the most popular flowering plants in Indonesia. This plant in Indonesia is known as Kenikir. It is said that Kenikir is a tropical plant originating from Latin America. But this plant grows wild and is easily found in Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia.
Kenikir is an annual plant that has a pipe trunk with longitudinal lines. The height of the Kenikir tree can reach 1 meter and the leaves are long-stemmed and the leaves sit opposite each other. The young Kenikir leaves and shoots can be used for vegetables, eaten raw or boiled and eaten as fresh vegetables. Javanese people are used to using it as a complement to traditional food, namely Pecel (Salad with peanut sauce). These vegetables can be found in traditional markets. This plant can also be used for flavoring and stimulate appetite.
