Reflected Mist - 2nd Shot From My Saturday Walk By The Lake

Reflected Mist

Another shot from my Saturday walk around the lake. This Time I shot the photo without much landscape at all. The only thing not reflected in this photo is the water surface, the mist rising above it, and a small dark patch of the back at the very top.

I like this photo for several reasons.. I like how the water is so smooth that it reflects the landscape seamlessly in an upside down fashion. I also think the mist coming off the surface of the water adds a whole other dimension to the photo. If it weren’t for the mist, then the photo would just simply be a reflected shot of the landscape. In its own right, reflection shots are cool, but having some thing like the mist in the sun add to the frames visual appeal.

There’s some morning mist still in the air.. and it is quite low to the horizon, so the sun isn’t extremely bright. Maybe this is some of the mist that has escaped off of the, warmer than air, waters. Instead, it appears like it’s a sunset rather than a sunrise. I’m loving the halo forming around the sun and shining through the tree limbs just enough or you can still make them out. The song plays a huge role in this photo and that it illuminates the mist coming up off the water in wisps. The largest of those wisps just happens to be on the same vertical line as the sun. This adds some symmetry to the overall feel of the photography.

Hope you enjoyed this one as much as the previous shot I shared yesterday. Let me know what you think! I’m anxious to find out.
