Russia, South Ural. Troitsk is an old and cozy, beautiful and interesting small town in the Chelyabinsk region on the border of Russia and Kazakhstan. This city used to be the gateway to Asia. For 300 years, a trade fair was held here, which was the third in the Russian Empire after the Nizhny Novgorod and Irbit ones. The city was built as a fortress in 1743. The city is now 277 years old.
There are many Orthodox churches and a Muslim mosque in the city today. But the Trinity Trade Fair was created by decree of Queen Elizabeth Petrovna in 1750. There were several bazaars for trade - upper, middle and lower. As well as hay and livestock trade. Merchants built many beautiful houses and schools. The city was the most enlightened in the Urals and Siberia - male and female gymnasiums were opened.
There were 2 electric cinemas and a drama theater. There were many foreign trade people in the city - Chinese and Persians, Uzbeks and Kyrgyz, Germans and Dutch, and even Americans traded in winchesters. There were also beer and gambling houses - casinos. It is clear that there were many Jews. A synagogue was opened and operated. Industry was already highly developed at that time. Plants and factories were built, various handicraft workshops and forges were opened.
There was a vocational school for training specialists for the industry of the Urals and Siberia. Many merchants had their own printing houses - more than 105 newspapers and magazines were published in the city, including all sorts of advertising brochures about trade. Therefore, Troitsk was called a merchant city. Many hospitals and infirmaries, shelters and charitable institutions were opened and operated. Also in the city were - a dragoon regiment, several hundreds of Cossacks. There were 2 prisons in the city - one political, the other criminal, as well as a regional Cossack court.
