Today I want to share some photos of insects that I took photo a few days ago. Some of these insect species are beetles, true ladybugs and moths and I found all three in the same location. As for the type of beetle I mean is a beetle with the binomial name Phyllobius argentatus.
"Phyllobius argentatus is a species of short-nosed weevil commonly known as the silver-green leaf weevil." Wikipedia
Each type of insect certainly has its own way of avoiding threats, this can be by flying, jumping or even running or hiding. And in this case the Phyllobius argentatus beetle is unique from other types of insects. The unique thing is that the way to avoid threats is to pretend to be dead.
Then the second insect is a true ladybug species named "Bapak Pucung". Bapak pucung is the popular name in Indonesia for this insect, while its binomial name is Dysdercus cingulatus.
"Dysdercus cingulatus is a species of true bug in the family Pyrrhocoridae, commonly known as the red cotton stainer." Wikipedia
These insects are pests of cotton plants, and interestingly when I found them they were in the process of reproducing offspring.
And finally there is a beautiful and unique moth that is very wild. I repeatedly tried to take more pictures from various angles but my efforts failed. The moths are part of the Synanthedon exitiosa moth.
"Synanthedon exitiosa, the peachtree borer, is a species of moth in the family Sesiidae". Wikipedia
The moth that I share has black fur with both metallic blue wings. In addition, this moth has both antennae which are quite long for the class of a moth, there is also a bit of yellow which is located on the back of its eyes.
