Hello lovely Hiveans !
Today I like to share some pictures of snow. This alone does not sound to interesting, but in this case it will be snow that aggregated some really nice ice crystals, which makes it really beautiful to look at .. But see it for yourself ^^
Aggregated Snow Crystals
About two weeks ago there was the last snowfall in the area here. Since that day the nights constantly featured degrees below zero, ranging from -6 °C to -12 °C. Even during the days it never got warmer than 2 °C to 5 °C. Thus, the snow did not melt away and the low temperatures during the night made it possible that the air moisture could aggregate as crystals onto the existing snow. The snow has a nice and shiny appearance now and one could even indicate the direction of the wind, as the moisture aggregated in accordance to the wind direction. Unfortunately it can't be seen here very clearly, but I hope that you can detect it a little bit ^^
I took two close-up pictures of the snow too, so that you get a better view on the nice crystals that aggregated over the time. I hope that you can imagine how these crystals are present everywhere and make the snow surfaces really beautiful. It even just aggregated on the walls and ground, hehe.
The snow is very fragile and as soon as you touch it, it falls apart, a bit like snow dust. So its nothing that you can use to build a proper snowman or snowballs without putting in a lot of effort and compression work. I tried it with my son, but we were only able to form tiny snowballs from it and gave it up quite quickly ^^
Awesome Snow Flowers
At some places I even found water ice aggregates that reminded me on icy flowers. These were especially beautiful and left me standing there admiring them for quite a while.
These flowers did not always appear in bushes, but most often as flat ice petals directly on the ground. It's quite fascinating how many different structures can be found here in the snow around and these here are just from around my place. There must be even more gorgeous structures around in other places that are still to discovered ^^
On most cases the flower petals covered some larger areas, which looked just stunning. We never saw them around in the bis cities in Germany, so I considered myself super lucky to see these.
Here is another example of some ice flowers that I was able to spot, that shows how dense these petal carpets can grow in time.
I hope that you like these pictures. It is probably not easy to transport a clean picture of the overall impression that the snow all around here creates if you see it for real, but I imagine that you got a crude picture now. If you see these awesome crystal and flower landscapes in the sun light, where the light gets reflected and the whole surface begins to sparkle, its just breathtaking ;)
