MidNight Gems - Undiscovered, Underrated & Forgotten Songs vol.69 "A very Dark Mea Culpa"

sin.jpg

For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs & covers.

Everybody and their lice talking about easter, and living in the catholic south of Spain I guess I am getting a bit influenced.

Today´s trip therefore will start in the name of the holy ghost, the holy gregorian spirit of Enigma, and that song that came out of nowhere and kept the #1 spot for weeks back in the days.

This indeed is going to be a very dark journey dear reader, please be prepared. Please note I have warned you that this will be a trip of infinite sadness.

1. Enigma - Sadeness - Part 1

Agnus Dei, the Latin name for the "Lamb of God" an honorary title used in the Catholic Mass and moreover in Christian liturgies. Words first spoken by John the Baptist who said: "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."

Can one man absolve all our sins? Even the worst type of sins, sins committed upon the innocent?

2. MYLENE FARMER - Agnus Dei Mystic Mix

There they are, the man in dark robes. These men, who are said to be following the father, are they truly saving the children in his name? Or are they just leading them out of the frying pan into the fire?

3. Katethegreat19-Come Little Children (Lyrics)

There is just one place that fits perfectly for those misleading the children, the tree....the hanging tree.

4. The Hanging Tree - Hunger Games - Peter Hollens

That hanging tree is found in a grim forest, a forest at the end of human civilization.... a forest where the children are led by those that are said to spread his love. Let the children come to me they quote the good book, for their own pleasure and the children's never-ending pain.

5. The Cure - A Forest (Cyberoptics Remix) ft Amber Noel

And who is the god of the forest, god of the hunt, the god protecting the animals and little children alike. Let me give you a clue, it's not Lindsey although sometimes she comes really close.

6. Lindsey Stirling - Artemis

From the beautiful Forest of Artemis where our child should have been safe, the children are lost to the eyes that lead them there. Those that so-called lead the children to safety will now find themselves in the mysterious forest..... So near the end, yet so unknowing.

7. Frederic Chopin - Mysterious Forest

After such a mysterious sweet symphony it´s time to look into the darkness once more..... Giving those who require it time to get on their knees and start praying as the end is always near. And enlightenment only comes in the darkest hours.

Feel free to cry over all sins committed, feel free to ask for forgiveness as they did not know what thy done....or did thy?

8. The Life and Times- Mea Culpa

But the real mea culpa should come from above, once we come full circle. The light can be turned off, the eyes can be closed for one last time. Blindly the dead will enter the eternal limbo, hoping that Jesus died to also absolve their sins. But how can the son absolve so many sins, how much love is needed to compensate for all the hurt spread by HuMANs?

Is there still enough love to be forgiven in heaven, or have the tickets for heaven sold out long ago, and are the only seats left in the eternal fiery pits of hell?

What the fluff are midnight gems?

Somewhere lost in time, trying to escape out of the rabbit hole back into the rat race there is a vacuum..... that´s the place where midnight gems are found.

My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.

Who the fluff am I?

Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years....Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.

Hope you enjoyed this slightly confronting wave of amazing music and you still feel like joining me on the next special edition trip as vol.70 of Midnight Gems is coming soon.
