WE’RE NOT TOURISTS, WE LIVE HERE ttt 110

Hello Hello to all music-loving Hivians

Earlier on today I was flicking through my notifications and saw that @mypathtofire had posted. Well it is Tuesday and that of course means it is #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes! My tunes take inspiration from his post ThreeTuneTuesday - The Eurythmics

When we lived in Aberdeen, because Annie Lennox was from Aberdeen they loved the band that was Eurythmics.

However, as I often do with musicians, I prefer her previous band, and as it is the holiday season at the moment, I felt appropriate to have three tunes from The Tourists.

@ablaze is having a well deserved break from choosing the ttt winners for the next three weeks .. Three Tune Tuesday Showcase Changes for Weeks 108, 109 and 110

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Here come the tourists!

Yes that was a big ass cruise liner that docks at Kirkwall in Orkney.

Now imagine up to three of those a day, with thousands of tourists descending on the small city that is Kirkwall population 7500!

The formalities

None this week!

I was on holiday in the Orkney Islands which are fluffing miles away, the shots are all from there.

So let's get down to it!

The Tourists - So Good to Be Back Home Again

I just had to kick this post off with So Good to Be Back Home Again ... Mrs T would ask me if it felt good to be back home again.

It fluffing well did, I told here!

The Tourists were a five piece band made up of:

  • Peet Coombes – vocals, guitar
  • David A. Stewart – guitar
  • Annie Lennox – vocals, keyboards
  • Eddie Chin – bass guitar
  • Jim Toomey – drums

It was actually Peet Coombes who was the driving force behind The Tourists. Him and Dave Stewart were in the folk rock band Longdancer, but they started the band The Catch in 1976 and Annie Lennox joined them when they moved to London.

The Tourists - I Only Want To Be With You (1979)

This was a cover of the Dusty Springfield classic and has been covered by a few bands, but this is the best in my opinion.

It is also when you first really hear Annie Lennox's voice, and it is not surprising that she went on to have the career that she did.

By this time Eddie Chin the Malaysian bass guitarist and Jim Toomey had joined on drums.

The Tourists - Save Me

1979 was their year, and they released two albums The Tourists and Reality Effect. Do bands still release debut albums named with the name of their band? 1980 saw them release the album Luminous Basement.

Not long afterwards, Coomes and Chin quit to form the band Acid Drops...

Meanwhile Lennox and Stewart broke up as a couple but formed the band Eurythmics..

Guess which band stood the test of time?

Bonus tune The Tourists - The Loneliest Man In The World

Alot of fans reckoned this was their best tune...

I hope that you enjoyed these The Tourists tunes.

Which was your favourite (if any) ?

Note: The three YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶
