Hello music lovers! 🎵🎧🎵
It's Friday again and time for #newtunes. The sounds and tones have spilled out of my ears onto paper (figuratively), actually onto the screen, and maybe you'll take some time for yourself, listen to the suggestions and stay in the mood that this music brings over the weekend :)
Anyone who dares should listen. If you don't like something, feel free to skip it. :) 😁
CHARLES LLOYD & MICKEY HART, PART 1
Happy Birthday Mickey Hart: Improvising With Saxophonist Charles Lloyd. That's the JamBase headline! The 79-year-old drummer of the Grateful Dead (who just celebrated his birthday) and his band Planet Drum have released the album "In the Groove", featuring collaborations with several renowned musicians, in this track he improvises with the well-known jazz saxophonist Chares Lloyd.
A timeless sense of eternity radiates from this music, that's all I can say.
Megadeth - The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!: Chapter III
Megadeth is a band that needs no introduction. After four decades, with regular tours and albums, these musical legends are still sawing the eardrums of metalheads and thrash metal fans around the world, despite frontman Dave Mustaine's recent bout with throat cancer that nearly took his voice.
Building on fast rhythmic sections with technically challenging solos, often followed by slower, more melodic sections, they continue to fascinate all speed and thrash metal freaks. For fans of the genre.
Nilüfer Yanya - Rid Of Me
I already featured few times English indie artist Nilüfer Yanya, but I must do this again. A few days ago I listen to her cover of PJ Harvey’s classic "Rid of Me". She said:
"Rid of Me" haunted me for many years after I first heard it, but in a comforting kind of way, like I knew it was always there for me. It comes across as defiant, alien, and twisted, but it is a perfect song.
Nils Frahm - Right Right Right
The Berlin-based composer and producer Niles Frahm ride through various styles of electronic and experimental music. Also, his new album, more than three hours long, "Music for Animals" is very specific. Long songs, meditative and sprawling, many keyboards, synths, and electronic gadgets width nostalgic, laid-back, and calming melodies. Certainly for relaxation.
Alex G - Cross The Sea
Philadelphia musician Alex Giannascoli, who performs as Alex G, and his new album "God save The Animals".
This guy and his band are new to me and I check his enigmatic discography. Yes, enigmatic. Similar to the previous artist (Nils Frahm) he also thinks about animals and reinforces his sense of responsibility towards our animal companions. Very nice. I'll follow him. Recommend.
björk : atopos
Björk named her upcoming studio album Fossora, coining the feminine equivalent of the Latin word fossore, or "to dig". Enchanting mushroom-themed artworks represent her journey into the earth, inspired by her personal sadness and isolation due to the pandemic. Björk has described the album as "biological techno". Definitely interesting.
Gorillaz - New Gold ft. Tame Impala & Bootie Brown
The second single for the new upcoming album "Cracker Island". Earlier this summer, they performed the song live for the first time in front of 40,000 ecstatic fans at London's All Points East festival, where they headlined a huge world tour. The band was joined on stage by Tame Impala, the psychedelic music project of Australian multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker, and longtime collaborator Bootie Brown from alternative hip hop group The Pharcyde. Cool.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Eddie
RHCP paid tribute to Eddie Van Halen. The song unfolds as an emotionally charged anthem rooted in powerful bass, emotive rhythm, cathartic guitar and delicate vocal melody.
Anthony Kiedis, frontman of RHCP said:
Sometimes we don't realize how deeply we are affected and connected to artists until the day they die. Eddie Van Halen was one of a kind and the song is about his early days on the Sunset Strip and the rock n roll tapestry that Van Halen painted in our minds. In the end, our song asks that you remember Eddie not for his death, but for living his wildest dream.
ugh... there's a mess ... I need to change something ... this year ... maybe 😁
