The song is from the latest Alt-J album (fourth), released today. This British indie rock band is new for me. Most of the music insiders (that I follow) mentioned it and of course, I had to listen... Excellent production, clean and clear vocals, and everything else that goes with it. Rumour has it that all the songs on the album are outstanding ...

J.R. August - I'm Afraid The Bird Will Die

J.R. August is a Croatian singer-songwriter, winner of several national music awards (Porin). The song is actually the basis for a short film of the same name. The film is about an isolated women community that prepares a girl for a ritual coming-of-age ceremony. Confused by the expectations she has to fulfill, the girl runs away with a boy she likes.

Nilüfer Yanya - Midnight Sun

This London singer-songwriter is a new name for me. In this song from her new forthcoming album Painless, she deals first and foremost with the depths of emotional vulnerability that one can reach. What attracted me to this song was the acoustic guitar which at times reminds me of Zeppelin acoustic riffs. Maybe I'm imagining it and it's just echoing in my head... what do I know ...

Caroline Polachek - Billions

Beautiful and bizarre, most known as a singer and songwriter for synth-pop band Chairlift, caught my attention with this latest single. I cannot shake the feeling that I am listening to Kate Bush in her most productive years. Well, I wouldn't compare the two, Caroline is also unique and fascinates me with her clear voice, which she raises and lowers an octave. Hypnotic and sublime at the same time.

Big Thief - Red Moon

Big Thief is an American indie rock band with folk roots and here is the newest song and video they share with us. From the just-released album 'Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You'. The great mood I feel here. Almost like I listen to Grateful Dead. Well, maybe I'm exaggerating, but it's a great song!

Something really fresh from Africa. New for me. Ecko Bazz, from Uganda, shows us the best of hip-hop, grime, and rap from Eastern Africa. Pure adrenaline is forced with politicized lyrics into explosive stories about violence, religion, and drug abuse in Uganda slums from where he comes. Recommended.

RØLØ - Kaskader

RØLØ is a rock trio from Split, Croatia. This piece is from the latest album 'Ponte Rosso'. Authors said:

We thought of it as a hymn for people who live fast, take risks, ride elephants, drive cars, jump through cotton hoops, bungee jump, eat hot peppers.

Yes, in English, 'Kaskader' means Stuntman. Very danceable and rhythmic. Once it gets a hold of you, it will ring in your ears for quite some time.

Buldožer: Svaki čovjek ima svoj blues

This song is not new, but I decided to put it here in memory of the Bulldozers' frontman, Marko Brecelj, who died last week. I know him personally. He was a Slovenian and ex-Yugoslavian musician, songwriter, and conceptual artist. Buldožer was one of the most important and popular rock bands in ex-Yugoslavia in the 1970s and left a great influence on younger artists. In English: Bulldozer - Every man has his blues. R.I.P. Marko Brecelj.
