Reliving Old Music Productions - Break The Beat (Breakbeat)

OOOCZ.jpg

It can't all be Drum & Bass at Havey HQ but one genre I tried my hand at last year can be thought of as a slower variant of the dnb genre called Breakbeat. Not that I'm an expert on anything outside (or even arguably INside) the realms of Drum & Bass but I decided to slow down the project tempo to a gentle 140 BPM and see what happens. The creativity of coming up with the title of the track was probably lacking seeing as there are quite a few tracks called "Break the Beat" but I did spend at least a little more time in the production side of it! I'll let you enjoy it here whilst I type some more:

Out Of Our Comfort Zone

Branching out of the usual genre can be quite exciting as you learn a plethora of new skills and production tips that you may not have considered before and that was the case with this one. I thought I'd try out something different with the bassline and went for "let's go f***ing crazy" and see what happens! Plenty of chops and changes in the programming of the patterns applied to the bassline in the music software which drove my laptop in to hyperdrive at the time but in the end, I think it turned out alright!

I remember being pretty vexed at the time of making this one and, as with all my tracks, I channeled the emotions in to the tunes with the focus going in to making that bassline as big as I could! It wasn't until 2020 that I teamed up with @bufinjer to put a whole collection of tunes together that were out of our comfort zone in a 9 track EP called... "Out of Our Comfort Zone"! Again, creativity on the tunes is probably our focal point haha! In that EP though, we really pushed ourselves and you can catch the full EP here which features tunes ranging from dubstep, Hardstyle, drumstep, breakbeat and more!

In other news, I decided to do a complete back up of the latest files on my PC and spare hard drive which is going to take another week or so and then I need to try and find all the installation files for the various digital instruments I used in the software which is proving challenging to find as it's been quite a few years since I last did it - the memory isn't quite as sharp as it once was! Hope I can get that sorted as would be cool to go through some videos and show you how I make these tracks!

Anyway, hope you enjoy this one!

Nicky
