Is this Friday the day to restart the fun around a picked original song and a few covers of it? If I finish writing and publish this post, then the answer is positive.
"Memories" is the word that was the trigger to bring this edition, as it is exactly what left from the series. Just memories, mostly mines, mixed with the constant search but without a right match. Seems that yesterday a good one came into the scene, so if you are interested to see one original song, a couple of covers, some good and some not so good ones, and one #hive user as a guest in this post, stay and continue to read. One easy song will come as the original one. Easy, in terms that it is easy to listen to it, as it has a smooth tune as any other radio-friendly song. Like this one, which by the way is not so suitable for everyone... So I recommend not to click at that link, just if you are curious and want a little bit of fun, take the risk... on your own responsibility :D
The song, which was released in 2019, was inspired by the loss of the band's manager Jordan Feldstein who passed away in 2017. It became so popular as everyone who missed a loved one could connect easily with the message of this song. I like the fact that it is harmonically based on Pachelbel's Canon in D, so simple but suitable for the basis of many musical pieces. Also, I like the video, as it shows the singer from close and just a dark background.
She is a Canadian pianist, already well known for me by her covers. A nice piano that she plays on, and her good technique and feeling for music makes the whole picture a professional approach to work. Also, she picks popular songs that are searched for, so her success was expected. This cover is a nice one, in addition, that I like to hear this song on the piano.
This reggae cover lifted my spirits up! With a cool bass line and organ touch, I can listen to this version more times than to the original one. A warm atmosphere that it gives, at least to me. Do you like it?
We are moving into nature, peace and harmony with this cover by a flute player, Swarnim Maharjan. I love the scene where it was shot, the camera and the combination that he uses, i.e. technology and that traditional Nepali flute. What a nice sound it has, don't you think the same?
The cover that comes here is not a made by professional musicians. However, I wanted to include it as not always the top musicians have to take the podium. This choir group of neighbours, friends and amateur singers that like to sing together. I appreciate the love and dedication each of those amateur groups gives into the work, as not always the professional ones can offer excellence. It can be their point of getting and sharing some good vibes, that we all need in our lives. Thanks, guys, for making music with love! My applause also goes for you!!
Here comes the #hive guest for this edition of #OriginalvsCovers post. Karla came recently to hive community and she already showed her engagement and love! And dedication! I met her in the Hive Open Mic community, and I liked her approach and her work that she is giving into her entries. Here, she made a cover, mixing the tune of the Memories song by Maroon 5 and Canon in D , composed by Pachelbel. I think she did great, congratulations @karlaquinviolin . What do you think?
Here we comes to the end of this post, number 9 in the series.
