Three Tune Tuesday Week 80 - Christmas is Coming to Town [ENG/ESP]
We are a little less than two weeks away from the celebration of Christmas, and I think there is nothing more to add about this holiday, beyond what has been written, read or heard for years, decades or centuries, and the importance it has for the Western world, to such an extent that other societies or cultures are adopting the traditions and customs of this date, such as decorating their homes with Christmas motifs, although probably with a completely different meaning or significance to that of the Judeo-Christian tradition.
In this sense, I have selected for this week, a trio of songs from various musical genres, but which have in common their theme around the celebrations of the month of December, particularly Christmas.
Now, without further ado, I invite you to relax and enjoy the musical selection that I share today on this platform.
Estamos a poco menos de dos semanas para la celebración de la Navidad, y creo que no hay nada mas que agregar sobre esta festividad, mas allá de lo que se ha escrito, leído o escuchado por años, décadas o centurias, y la importancia que reviste para el mundo occidental, a tal punto que otras sociedades o culturas, están adoptando las tradiciones y costumbres propias de esta fecha, como decorar sus viviendas con motivos navideños, aunque probablemente con un sentido o significado completamente diferente al de la tradición judeocristiana.
En este sentido, he seleccionado para esta semana, un trío de temas de diversos géneros musicales, pero que tienen en común su temática en torno a las celebraciones del mes de Diciembre, particularmente la Navidad.
Ahora, sin mayores preámbulos, los invito a relajarse y disfrutar de la selección musical que hoy comparto por esta plataforma.

Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town is a popular Christmas carol, written in 1932 by American composers John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie, and first performed in November 1934, on the radio program of actor and comedian Eddie Cantor.
The song became an instant hit with orders for over 500,000 copies of sheet music and over 30,000 albums sold in just 24 hours.
The song has been recorded by more than 200 artists, including Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters, The Crystals, Mariah Carey, Neil Diamond, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra, Chris Isaak, The Temptations, Michael Bublé, The Jackson 5, Justin Bieber and Luis Miguel, who would record it in Spanish for his 2006 album Navidades; among others.
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performed a live version of the song during their performance at C. W. Post College in Brookville, New York, on December 12, 1975. It was subsequently included in 1982 as part of the compilation album Sesame Street In Harmony, and again in 1985 as the B-side of the single "My Hometown", from Springsteen's seventh studio album, Born in the U.S.A.
The Springsteen version has been played for years on radio stations during the holiday season; appearing on Billboard magazine's Hot Singles Recurrents list every year from 2002 to 2009.

La canción se convertió en un éxito inmediato con pedidos superiores a las 500.000 copias de partituras y más de 30.000 álbumes vendidos en tan sólo 24 horas.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is a song composed by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane in 1944 for the musical film Meet Me in St. Louis, where it was performed by Judy Garland, and along with The Trolley Song and The Boy Next Door is one of the three most popular original songs from the film, in addition to Skip To My Lou which is a song from the 19th Century.
Subsequently, Frank Sinatra changed the lyrics and performed it as well. The song was included in the list of "The 100 most representative songs of American cinema", where it was placed in the 76th position.
Last year, the official YouTube channel of the remembered artist, published an animated video of the song, dedicated to Venezuelan migrants and refugees, a number that currently exceeds 7 million people, as the story tells the experiences of someone who travels from Caracas to New York, to reside in this city.
The audiovisual production was in charge of the Venezuelan director David Calcaño, and is inspired by his own migratory experience. Calcaño chose this song because it always brought him hope, stating that "Sinatra's performance of this song always brought me tears and smiles, and always gave me hope that things were going to be okay, even in my lowest moments".
The video features iconic places and landscapes of our country, such as El Avila Hill in the city of Caracas, and the work of renowned artist Carlos Cruz-Diez that adorns the floors of the "Simón Bolívar" International Airport, which has been a silent witness to countless moving farewells over the past two decades.
It also contains numerous references to the celebration of Christmas in Venezuela, particularly the preparation of "hallacas", a typical dish of these festivities, which used to gather the whole family around its preparation and later, at the table during Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve dinners.
It should be noted that the vast majority of Venezuelan migrants are concentrated in countries of the region, such as Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile, which host the largest number, however, there are also large communities in other parts, as is the case of the southern state of Florida in the American Union, and throughout Spain, where Venezuelan cuisine has caused a real furor, with hundreds of establishments offering our products to the inhabitants of Madrid, Barcelona and the main cities of the Iberian Peninsula.
But the Venezuelan diaspora has also reached other continents, and it is estimated that it has spread to more than 70 countries in different continents, including a large part of Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and Canada, where my brother and his family have been living for a decade, and whom I have not had the opportunity to see again in all this time, except by video calls.

El año pasado, el canal oficial en YouTube del recordado artista, publicó un video animado del tema, dedicado a los migrantes y refugiados venezolanos, una cifra que actualmente supera los 7 millones de personas; pues la historia relata las experiencias de alguien que viaja desde Caracas hasta Nueva York, para residenciarse en esta ciudad.
La realización del audiovisual estuvo a cargo del director venezolano David Calcaño, y está inspirado en su propia experiencia migratoria. Calcaño escogió este tema musical porque siempre le trajo esperanza, declarando que “La actuación de Sinatra en esta canción siempre me trajo lágrimas y sonrisas, y siempre me dio la esperanza de que las cosas iban a estar bien, incluso en mis momentos más bajos”.
En el video pueden observarse lugares y paisajes icónicos de nuestro país, como el cerro El Avila en la ciudad de Caracas, y la obra del reconocido artista plástico Carlos Cruz-Diez que adorna los pisos del Aeropuerto Internacional Simón Bolívar, que ha sido testigo mudo de incontables y conmovedoras despedidas durante las últimas dos décadas.
Además, contiene numerosas referencias a la celebración de la Navidad en Venezuela, particularmente de la elaboración de las "hallacas", plato típico de estas festividades, y que solía reunir a toda la familia en torno a su preparación y posteriormente, en la mesa durante las cenas de Nochebuena y Nochevieja.
Es oportuno destacar que la gran mayoría de los migrantes venezolanos se concentran en países de la región, como Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Chile, que albergan la mayor cantidad, sin embargo, también existen grandes comunidades en otras partes, como es el caso del sureño estado de la Florida en la unión americana, y en toda España, donde la gastronomía venezolana ha causado un verdadero furor, con cientos de establecimientos que ofrecen nuestros productos a los habitantes de Madrid, Barcelona y de las principales urbes de la península ibérica.
Pero la diáspora venezolana, también ha alcanzado otros continentes, estimándose que se extendido a mas de 70 países en los diferentes continentes, incluyendo gran parte de Europa, Asia, Australia, Africa y Canadá, país donde reside desde hace una década, mi hermano junto a su familia, y a quien no he tenido la oportunidad de volver a ver en todo este tiempo, salvo por videollamadas.

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!, better known as Let It Snow, is a popular song written by American lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945, during a severe heat wave in Hollywood, California, during which Cahn and Styne imagined more pleasant temperatures.
Although the lyrics do not mention any particular holiday, the song has come to be regarded as a song of the Christmas season in North America, due to its reference to winter.
It was first recorded by American baritone Vaughn Monroe for the RCA Victor record label in 1945, and became a popular hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard Best Sellers chart in late January through February 1946. Since then, numerous artists have made their own versions of the song.
Subsequently, British musician Rod Stewart, included it on his album Merry Christmas, Baby, released in 2012. The Stewart version reached #1 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart in December of that year, a position it would hold for a total of five weeks.

De alguna manera, quise rendir un breve tributo a la cercana celebración de las festividades decembrinas, con un trío de canciones que tienen en común la temática de la Navidad, y todos los sentimientos alrededor de esta fecha, que posee una gran significado en el mundo occidental.
