Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa.
This is my 18th week contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", started by @ablaze. It is week 83 overall!
I am trying to stick to a set pattern, where I perform 2 cover songs (written by famous artists) and 1 original song (written by me) around a theme. Last week I picked the theme of "Christmas". Now, with New Year's Eve rapidly approaching, I thought I would pick the theme of "Crazy Ladies that are best Avoided"!
The first song I'm going to try is "Posion" by Alice Cooper, which is a real rocker so I put a little distortion on my guitar. Actually now that I watch back I see I put quite a bit... sorry if it is a bit loud! Here is the original:
The second song I'm going to do is a little softer, but seems to describe a similar sort of lady. This is "Maneater" by Hall & Oates (no, not the Nelly Furtado one sorry!) Here is the original:
So what am I going to sing? Years ago I wrote a song called "Stay Away Woman!". The back story to it is that I once attended a guitar workshop being held by some of the finest acoustic guitar players in South Africa. I made a female friend there and we jammed some Bob Dylan together and showed each other some early attempts at songwriting. I thought everything was platonic and above board.
A few weeks later she sent me lyrics to a new song. It was a love song, clearly about me. What was the problem? Well, she knew I was already in a serious relationship with Julia, who eventually became my wife. I knew she was supposed to have a serious boyfriend of her own... eventually he got hold of me and mentioned that they were actually already engaged (something she had neglected to tell me!) So yes, that friendship had to end...
But at least there is a little song!
I hope everybody has a wonderful New Years! Try and snog up to a nice lady or gent rather than a crazy one! How about that?
