Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from a coastal town about a 2 hour drive from Cape Town in South Africa!
This is my 27th week contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 92 overall!
I am trying to stick to a set pattern, where I perform 2 cover songs (written by famous artists) and 1 original song (written by me [or us in this case]) around a theme. This week, the theme is "Coming Home!"
As I mentioned last week, I have pretty much run out of finished original songs. Now, I have no choice but to reveal a new "work-in-progress" original song, but let's get through the two cover songs first!
For the first cover song, I am going to think back to the song literally called "Coming Home", that was a big hit when Diddy (What Puff Daddy or Sean Puffy Combes or whatever-else-who-want-to-call-him was calling himself at the time...) and Skylar Grey released it... Here's the original! The lyrics are quite moving:
For the second cover song I would like to do "Country Roads" (take me home...) by John Denver. This song is such a classic... but would you believe I've never actually learnt it until today?
It does remind me of that pick-up line:
Guy: "Country Rooooaaadsss"...
Girl (Can't help singing along... because who can resist singing along to this song?): "Take me home..."
Guy: "Well if you insist!"

With the two covers out of the way, it is time for me to finish at least a verse and chorus to match the theme... as I seem to be coming up with a new song where I play the guitar a bit more percussively... Let's call it "Cape Town" for now. It's about coming home to my baby daughter, who keeps growing so fast, if I am away for a couple of days!!
