This piece originated as an exercise in scoring the opening of a movie that has yet (but ought) to be made, in this case a dramatization of the U.S. government's strange and heavy-handed pursuit of Aaron Swartz for the crime of simply downloading academic papers from a server at MIT. Ultimately, the pressure of being targeted in such a relentless manner resulted in Swartz taking his own life in January, 2013.
