Hello friends from Hive, today I want to share with you my guitar cover of the song Higher by the band Creed , a song I had wanted to play since the first time I heard it about 20 years ago, back then I didn't even have an acoustic guitar, and when I finally had an electric guitar, I went another way, playing other songs, other bands, other genres of music, and after so many years while I found myself listening to bands I used to listen, I came across this song, and I remembered how much I longed to play it as a kid, so I put my hands to work.

Well I must confess something, I thought that playing Higher by Creed would be very easy, I thought, it's a very simple song, I've played much more complicated songs. But when I picked up the guitar, I realized that it's not easy. Or at least for me, I think often you get used to playing certain genres, and from a certain way, that when you set out to play something different than usual, you find there are aspects that you can't execute with ease, like rhythmic strumming, something that I found complicated in this song.

At first I downloaded a tablature for Guitar Pro, and after practicing for a while I realized that there were slight differences to how it sounds on the album, so I gave myself the task of discovering how to really play it, I found on Youtube a tutorial posted by a user that cleared up some doubts, and I also found a lesson by Mark Tremonti, Creed's guitarist, on how to play this song, and more than clearing up any doubts, it generated some questions, because I felt that the album version was played differently from how Tremonti said it was played. I watched several videos of the band playing Higher live, and indeed Tremonti played it as he said in the lesson, but it still sounded different on the album.

Finally, after some sound exploration, I realized that the details were in the rhythmic strumming, for some reason Tremonti began to do the strumming with some rhythmic variations after he recorded the album, but by sharpening my ear I was able to identify them, and I played it as I think it is recorded on the album, I don't know how accurate it is in comparison, but it's the best I could do.

Without further ado, I share with you the guitar cover of the song Higher by Creed, I hope you like it.

I hope you liked my guitar cover, please let me know your thoughts about it.
