Three Times Ayra Starr Gave us Hits. #ttt

Hello music lovers! Trust we're doing good today? 😃Well, it's another beautiful Tuesday and that means; #threetunetuesday! And for this week's challenge by @ablaze, I'd be sharing three hit songs by Ayra Starr.

For those of us who do not know this artist, she's a Nigerian Afropop singer who came into limelight in early 2021. Having been signed into one of my country's biggest music record labels; 'Mavin records', Ayra Starr has been able to leave indelible marks on the music industry despite starting off as an unknown teenage girl.

So far, she's featured with international artists like FousheĂŠ, Kelly Rowland, Kofee, etc. I'm certain that with time, she'll get to work with more famous international acts.

Now before I digress any further, here are some hits by this beautiful and talented artist:

1. 'AWAY'

Making her debut entry into the music industry, Ayra Starr took the spotlight with this song which is the first on her eponymous EP. Released in early 2021, the song became social media sensation for Nigerians and even abroad as it trended on TikTok, song streaming platforms and music charts.

The song, 'Away' which blends Afropop and R&B, talks about walking away from an emotionally abusive relationship and wanting peace of mind. Asides implying the “break-up song” concept, it's an uplifting song that can be related with standing up to whatever is causing you pain or sadness. Overally, it's a nice song with pulsating beats and smooth vocals. Definitely a must listen!

2. 'BLOODY SAMARITAN'

With a sleek mix of Afrobeat, Pop and Amapiano, Ayra Starr delivers yet again with this amazing tune. Released sometime in 2021, this track topped the other songs on her first studio album; '19 and Dangerous'. Also, this song has been remixed by the likes of Kofee and Kelly Rowland.

For clarity, “bloody” in this sense doesn't actually mean bloodshed or violence, it's only used to intensify the term “Samaritan”. The song basically talks about being confident, protective of your energy, in control of your life and in pursuit of your dreams... No matter what society or people have to say, never let it dampen your spirit. Just keep staying upbeat and be your true self.

You'll definitely wanna get up and dance to the rhythm of this song because it's a whole vibe!

3. 'RUSH'

Okay this one's pretty recent, it was just released last month as a single. And as usual, it's a Afropop song sang in more of "pidgin English". Ayra Starr in her lyrics says; “E dey rush”, meaning, “It is Overflowing”… her grace, talent, wealth and joy is overflowing and she gives God the credit for that.

According to her, it's like a biblical allusion to the words; “…my cup runneth over”. It can also be viewed as a fireback to nosey netizens and critics. She informs them that she's more focused on protecting her energy and hustling for more money rather than paying attention to hate and bad vibes.
This amazing tune is a subtle reminder to keep focusing on what's important and working hard whilst appreciating your wins.

In conclusion, these three songs are hits but certainly not the only good songs from the singer. She's got lots more but I'm only settling for those three on this week's challenge. I really hope you enjoyed them. And if you've listened to these songs, please feel free to share your favorite in the comments.
