Debo admitir que estaba convencidísimo de que Tyler estaba hablando literalmente de un color. Pero el asunto no parece ser ni tan simple ni tan inocente.
Pero antes de hablar sobre eso, vale la pena mencionar sobre lo musicalmente atrayente que resulta ser esta canción. El pulso bien marcado del bajo, el aire country, el sonido rústico de la armónica, los bending de los coros, la increible voz de Steve...
Es la receta perfecta para agitar la cabeza al ritmo de la batería sin cansarse.

Be honest, what did you think this song was talking about?
I must admit, I was pretty convinced that Tyler was literally talking about a color. But the matter seems to be neither that simple nor that innocent.
But before we talk about that, it's worth mentioning about how musically appealing this song turns out to be. The well marked pulse of the bass, the country feel, the rustic sound of the harmonica, the bending of the chorus, Steve's incredible voice....
It's the perfect recipe to shake your head to the rhythm of the drums without getting tired.
UNA LETRA DIVERTIDA (Y SUGESTIVA)
Pink fue estrenada en 1997 y se convirtió en un gran éxito. Junto con ella, un video musical de lo más peculiar, donde podemos ser testigos de una "paleta de personas" bastante variada, más allá del rosa, por supuesto, y que nos revela hacia dónde va dirigida realmente la letra de esta canción.
Si se van a la página de Wikipedia, podrán leer que estos versos son considerados como "muy sugestivos" y no es para menos. Una vez que miras el video, te quedan pocas dudas al respecto. Es un discurso a favor de la diversidad y la libertad sexual que al no ser demasiado explícito, nos ahorra el sinsabor de verla dentro del típico y moderno repertorio de mal gusto que se puede encontrar por ahí hoy en día.
Provocador, sugestivo, potente y, a la vez, sutil.
A FUNNY (AND SUGGESTIVE) LYRICS
Pink was released in 1997 and became a huge hit. Along with it, a most peculiar music video, where we can witness a quite varied "palette of people", beyond pink, of course, and which reveals where the lyrics of this song are really going.
If you go to the Wikipedia page, you can read that these verses are considered "highly suggestive" and no wonder. Once you watch the video, you are left with little doubt about it. It is a speech in favor of diversity and sexual freedom that, by not being too explicit, saves us the displeasure of seeing it within the typical and modern repertoire of bad taste that can be found out there nowadays.
Provocative, suggestive, powerful and, at the same time, subtle.
UNA NOTA UNIFICADORA
Por supuesto, no podemos dejar de lado el apartado musical en este post. Por lo que voy a mencionar un pequeño detalle que me resulta interesante.
Si buscan en distintas páginas de internet los acordes de Pink, la mayoría de ellas les indicaran que son los siguientes:

Si lo notan, son acordes bastante elementales, por no decir básicos. Pero en este video, durante la actuación de Aerosmith en el programa de Howard Stern, el señor Perry utiliza unos acordes como estos:
If you notice, they are pretty elementary, not to say basic chords. But in this video, during Aerosmith's performance on the Howard Stern show, Mr. Perry uses chords like these:

Son acordes un poco más "condimentados". Los que agregan algunas disonancias que le proveen más sabor al asunto. No puedo evitar pensar que estos podrían ser los acordes originales, aunque tal vez no. Pero si lo son, entonces sucede ese detalle interesante del que les quería hablar.
En mi post anterior sobre Creep, les mencioné que los acordes están formados por un grupo de notas. Bueno, en este caso y con este tipo de acordes, hay una nota que se mantiene resonando en cada compás y, por lo tanto, durante casi toda la canción. La nota Sol (G).
They are a bit more "spiced" chords. The ones that add some dissonances that provide more flavor to the thing. I can't help but think that these might be the original chords, though maybe not. But if they are, then there's that interesting detail I wanted to tell you about.
In my previous post about Creep, I mentioned to you that chords are made up of a group of notes. Well, in this case and with this type of chords, there is a note that keeps resonating in every measure and, therefore, during almost the whole song. The note G.
En palabras sencillas, además del resto de las notas que hace la guitarra, el bajo, el cantante, los coros, etc. Hay una que se mantiene activa, aunque a veces no sea tan evidente. Esta nota invariable provee a esta pieza de una sonoridad bastante amplia. Si nos ponemos filosóficos, podríamos decir que aquí hay cierta apología del tipo "no importa como nos llamemos o nos veamos por fuera, todos compartimos algo en el interior que nos hace iguales". Si esto es a propósito, es genial. Si no, también es genial.
