However, this time my first thought when I opened my eyes was: "Oh no! What am I supposed to do with these?"
Ich habe das Prinzip schon einmal erklärt, ich stelle mich vor mein LP Regal, schließe die Augen, drehe mich einmal im Kreis und ziehe 3 zufällige Langspielplatten heraus.
Allerdings war diesmal mein erster Gedanke, als ich die Augen öffnete: "Oh nein! Was soll ich damit anfangen?"
But then I went on a Youtube search and it amazed me that ALL the works can actually be found! The classical and jazz community is very large and active after all.
Doch dann habe ich mich auf Youtube auf die Suche gemacht und es hat mich erstaunt, dass tatsächlich ALLE Werke zu finden waren! Ja, die Klassik und Jazz Gemeinschaft ist doch sehr groß und aktiv.
And I found really good music that I like very much. Music that can perhaps shift us a little from our fast-paced times into another dimension.
Und ich fand wirklich gute Musik, die mir sehr gefällt. Musik, die uns vielleicht ein wenig aus unserer schnelllebigen Zeit in eine andere Dimension verrücken kann.

From the ballet "the Nutcracker" is now this title, "the Waltz of the Flowers" on the LP, probably because it was a very popular piece of music for a long time.
Aus dem Ballet "der Nussknacker" ist nun dieser Titel, "der Blumenwalzer" auf der LP, wohl weil er lange Zeit ein sehr populäres Musikstück war.
There are countless videos of this popular work with much prettier videos, but with classical music it also matters what orchestra is playing and who is conducting. You can hear the difference. Besides, this is exactly the version, conducted by Leonard Bernstein, as it is here on the LP.
Es gibt unzählige Videos von diesem beliebten Werk mit viel hübscheren Videos, aber mit der Klassik ist es auch wichtig, welches Orchester spielt und von wem es dirigiert wird. Den Unterschied kann man hören. Ausserdem ist dies genau die Version, von Leonard Bernstein dirigiert, wie sie auch hier auf der LP vorhanden ist.
I hope you can make it through to 00.56 in the video, because that's where the part with the brass begins, and a little later the waltz, which I particularly like. Well, maybe that's part of my Austrian soul, that a waltz makes my heart soar :-)
Ich hoffe ihr schafft es bin 00.56 im Video durchzuhalten, denn dort beginnt der Teil mit den Bläsern und ein wenig später dem Walzer, der mir besonders gut gefällt. Nun, vielleicht ist das Teil meiner österreischischen Seele, dass mir ein Walzer das Herz aufgehen lässt :-)

Ray Conniff - Born 1916 in Massachusetts and died 2002 in California. Wow, a long and musician filled life too it seems.
According to Wikipedia, he made the US Top 40 with 28 albums between 1957 and 1968! Here he is now with an instrumental version of "Summertime" a song that probably everyone knows?
Ray Conniff - Geboren 1916 in Massachusetts und verstorben 2002 in Kalifornien. Wow, auch ein langes und musikerfülltes Leben wie es scheint.
Laut Wikipedia schaffte er es zwischen 1957 und 1968 mit 28 Alben in die Top 40 der US! Hier ist er nun mit einer instrumental Version von "Summertime" einem Song, den wohl jeder kennt?

The third LP is a bit more modern after all, though probably just as unknown to most here. The album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" always rather has been a difficult to listen piece of music history for me, but one song stands out for me:
Die dritte LP ist nun doch noch etwas moderner, allerdings wahrscheinlich ebenso unbekannt für die meisten hier. Das Album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" war für mich eher immer schwierig anzuhörendes Stück Musik Geschichte, aber ein Song, der sticht für mich heraus:
"On The Turning Away" is about "the weak and the waery", the poor, the oppressed and how we (still) have too much of a tendency to look away and turn away.
"On The Turning Away" handelt von den Schwachen und Müden, den Armen, den Unterdrückten und davon, dass wir (immer noch) allzusehr die Tendenz haben wegzusehen und uns abzuwenden.

Ich hoffe nun auch, dass ihr euch nicht gleich von diesem TTT Post hier abwendet, sondern der wahrscheinlich ungewohnten Musik mal eine Chance gebt. Bin schon neugierig, wem welcher Tune gefallen hat!
