#RockClassics - Mikis Theodorakis

Hi,

a great composer has left us these days, Mikis Theodorakis passed away at 96. He was a real #rockstar, if we can see his life work as the one of a rockstar, fitting to #rockclassics, the # Tag by @uwelang.

He made some Greek #music famous, with his marvellous piece, Sirtaki (Greek: συρτάκι) that was on the music he composed for the film Zorba the Greek (Αλέξης Ζορμπάς). In Greek, it is called Alexis, from the name of the main character from the novel with the same name. Alexis Zorbas was actually a real person, named Yorgis Zorbas.

Mikis Theodorakis was famous abroad, not only in the Western world, but also behind the Iron Curtain for his political views which I don't share, or better said, despite.

I do admire his musical work, which is the way he should be remembered.

The film was made famous by the dance of Anthony Quinn. I've found here a video that was shot in Munich in 1995, where both perform on stage, Mikis Theodorakis and Anthony Quinn.

Thank you, Sir, for your legacy! RIP!
