Useless at Golf 😂: May 8 2021

Yesterday, I went to play golf at Enderby, a nine-hole municipal course about four miles away. It was doomed from the start: I have mild dyspraxia and the clubs were right handed!

The pace is quite intense for a newbie, with new players coming up behind you every eight minutes. Above is one of the many obstacles you had to get across.

Yes, that was how far I had to get the ball. It was a dog-leg, so having driven the ball down the green, you then take it at a different angle to get it around the corner.

It was a beautiful day, though, just look at the sky! Some trees were coming into leaf, others had barely started. My favourite time of day is early morning when the grass smells delicious.

Another one of the long tees. There were two fathers and sons in front of us, enjoying a Friday afternoon outside. "Don't forget your sunscreen," one said to me.

Interestingly, I was the only woman I saw on the course - unlike my local course where I have only ever seen women playing.

We ended the day with a bottle of wine in the Botanic Garden before coming home for dinner. This is the carp pond about 8pm, just before we left.

The round of golf took about two hours and something like twelve thousand steps, so quite an easy, leisurely way to get your steps in. We found it would cost about £100 to get a set of lefthanded clubs secondhand, and a round of golf costs £7.45-£9.50, depending on the time of day.

I thought I might watch a few videos on YouTube and see if I can get some lessons. Who knows, I might even get to hit the ball!
