My Actifit Report Card and Update: August 27 2023

Hi Everyone,

It is time for another Actifit Report and Update. This year, I dedicated July and August to the Economics Challenge Series. This is the third year in a row that I have dedicated two months to this series. This year, I had the highest number of participants. It's great that it is gaining more traction. I intend on bringing it back again next year.

Two days ago, I wrapped up the series with the final results post. The series was so close that it came down to one challenge. That was the 'Even-to-Win' challenge. @practicaleric won the final challenge and won the whole series with it. Great performance by him. He won the 40 Hive Power from the Challenge and will receive another 80 Hive Power on the September Hive Power Up Day (HPUD).

The final two challenges were the Game Theory Game and Even-to-Win Game.

The Game Theory Game involves participants selecting 6 out if 11 boxes. The value in the box is shared amongst those who select it. It is a unique challenge as it has several win conditions depending on circumstances. The first condition is to obtain the highest combined value from all boxes selected. If two participants have joint highest values, the winner is the participant with the lowest combined values from the boxes selected. If there is a tie for both highest and lowest combined values, the first and second to enter the challenge are joint winners.

The Even-to-Win Game also involves selecting boxes. For this game, the boxes maintain their value if an even number of participants select them. This is not shared. However, if an odd number of participants select that box, it is worth zero.

The Book

In addition to the Challenge Series, I have continued my work on the book. I've spent the past two weeks focusing on the content. I've been trying to make sure that the story and characters are consistent. Ideas develop while writing. These changes can cause inconsistencies if the ideas take a character or a plotline in a different direction.

I needed to make a few rewrites and some adjustments to allow for ideas that did not develop as initially planned.

Today, I spent most of the morning adding titles to chapters. The book currently has 115 chapters. This is more chapters than I initially planned but each chapter adds value to the story.

I still need to edit the structure, phrasing, and grammar. It is a little tricky. Writing fiction is quite different from writing economics non-fiction content. I'm learning as I go along. I have spent some time learning from fiction books I have at home.

That wraps up this week's Actifit Report and Update. I hope everyone has a great week.
