My Actifit Report Card and Update: July 29 2023

Hi Everyone,

I'm back with another Actifit Report and Update. I've been keeping somewhat active. I managed to do a bit more gardening inbetween frequent showers. The lawn mower struggles on the wet grass as it gets stuck between the blades and the body of the mower. That means I need to keep stopping to clean out. July has been really wet. Only 2 days this month without rain, which is pretty bad for July. Temperatures have been well below average. Coldest July I can remember.

Climate change has been creeping into the news quite a bit recently. Mainstream media is almost entirely fearmongering and propaganda. The content should be mostly ignored. Despite, the mainstream media, climate change is worth debating. How is the climate changing? We would have global trends and local trends. Sometimes they align and sometimes they don't. Everywhere is affected differently because everywhere has different start points. Warming for a colder country is different to warming for a hotter country.

I'm living in the UK. The climate is mostly damp and cold. A warmer climate would bring more opportunities than problems. When I was in Australia, I would have argued that a warmer climate could be more problematic. Temperatures of mid 30s to 40 degrees are unpleasant. For a few days, they are tolerable but for weeks not really.

Climate change is inevitable. We've know this for a very long. No point stressing about it. We just need to adapt. Take advantage of the positives and mitigate the negatives. In general, warmer weather is better than colder. More people die of the cold than the heat. We can see that in the statistics.

I've just posted the last two challenges for the Economics Challenge Series. These were the Game Theory Game and the Even-to-Win Challenge.

The Game Theory Game requires participants to select boxes. At the end of the game, the value of the boxes are divided by the number of participants who selected them. For example, a box has a value 40 and it is selected by 8 participants. Each participant receives 5. The value obtained from each box is added up. There are several different win conditions for this challenge. See the challenge post for a more detail description.

The Even-to-Win Challenge is similar to the Game Theory Game. Participants are required to select boxes. Instead of sharing the value of the box, the value of the box is only awarded only when an even number of participants select it. The values from each box are added up to determine a participants total value. The participant with the highest value wins.

Neither of these challenges require a model to generate any results. This is different from most of my challenges. Thetefore, participants can determine who has won before I announce the winner.

Both challenges have attracted a good number of participants. I believe every challenge had over 12 participants, which means I will need to fork out the maximum prize of 60 Hive Power for each challenge.

That wraps up this week's Actifit Report and Update. The challenges are still running. Rush over and give them a go if haven't yet. I wish everyone an enjoyable weekend and a great week ahead.
