My Actifit Report Card and Update: April 3 2023

Hi Everyone,

It's Actifit Report and Update time. My Fitbit battery died. I recharged it last night. Oddly, it has recorded today's activity as yesterday's. So, I have almost no counts today and an excessive number for yesterday. I don't want these counts to go to waste, so I'm writing my report now before they are no longer available.

I went out shopping earlier today. I had to walk further as my nearest supermarket's ATM has been closed. It looks permanent as it has been bordered up. This is annoying as I prefer to use cash over cards. Therefore, I needed to walk further to draw money. I decided to shop somewhere else as well. This supermarket had a functioning ATM. I went in to do my shopping. It was a bigger shop than usual as we needed more things. It wasn't a problem bringing it back as I had Frogman with me. His wheels triple our carrying capacity.

On the way out, I noticed the ATM I used less than an hour earlier was temporarily closed. Could the banks be trying to reduce cash withdrawals? It is a possible response to the banking crisis. Banks do not like people withdrawing money. They want as much money tied up in the banking system as possible. I have seen a few Tweets from other people who have noticed ATMs disappearing. My Crypto wallet feels safer than my bank account.

My Content

I posted twice since my previous Actifit Report and Update. One was my CBA contest post and the other was my CBA contest results post. I have only just posted the results post, I would have preferred a slightly bigger gap between this post that but I want to keep these counts.

The CBA contest is my most complicated contest for the year. It involves many more parameters than any of my other contests. Despite, the complexity in appearance, the fundamentals behind it are quite simple. Participants need to obtain the highest returns on investment. They need to invest in projects that produce high benefits but with relative low costs. The contest gave participants 4 areas they could invest in. They were schools, hospitals, entertainment venues, and transport infrastructure. They could invest in any of 4 towns and cities

The turnout for the contest was lower than recent contests. This was expected based on the complexity of the contest. The participants did reasonably well with their investment decisions. Some of them achieved a positive NPV (benefits exceeded costs). The results post includes a 20 minute video. The video explains how the results are calculated and then calculates the results for all nine participants. The post concludes by offering some tips on how to play the game. The next CBA contest will not be until 2024 but next month I will post a new economics contest.

That concludes this week's Actifit Report and Update. I hope everyone is having good week and I hope everyone has an enjoyable Easter weekend. I'll be back soon.
