My Actifit Report Card and Update: May 3 2022

Hi Everyone,

It's Actifit time again. I've had a busy week both indoors and outdoors. Outdoors, I have been back at it with the fences. Last week, i spent a couple of days repairing and reinforcing the back garden fences. This week, I put up a new fence to cut off a small section of Hamlet the happy pig's and Lily goat's area so that the dogs can have their own garden area. The initial plan was for them to share an area but that plan was not practical.

I bought a fence set from Amazon, it included posts, spike anchors, mesh, wires, wire tensioners, and other necessary fittings to pull it together. Putting it up was hard work. The back garden is full of rocks and stones. It seemed like every spike hit or scraped a buried rock. One spike became completely bent out of shape. The poles are good quality and could be attached to the spikes with realitve ease. The wires were OK quality but they could have been stiffer. The mesh was low quality. It was falling apart as it was unwound. We put it up but it was not strong enough. So we added some of the left over mesh from the previous fences. It was much stronger. However, it wasn't strong enough to hold Hamlet. We added an old wooden fence, which was still in good condition to the fence. This made the fence strong enough and solid enough to stop Hamlet. At the end of the fence, we added a small gate. It was difficult to put in the ground but seems solid enough now. The fence looks a bit messy at the moment. After a few final touch ups I will share some photographs.

My Content

This week I published two posts. These posts are the two parts of my 'Freedom for Us, Them, and Everyone' series.

Part one focused on us and our perceptions. It emphasized the importance of our perceptions and how they guide our decion-making and desires. The post considered how these perceptions are formed. The post considered motivations behind helping others and motivations behind harming others. Both these actions are strongly linked to our perceptions.

Part two focused on how our pursuit of our desires (using our freedom) can negatively affect others. Sometimes we negatively affect others unintentionally and other times it is intentional. The post discussed two examples. The first example describes how scarcity causes people to compete for resources and by consuming a scarce resource we are forcing other people to miss out. The second example describes how the desire for control causes people to have their freedom threatened. There is a conflict between the controllers and the people who do not desire to be controlled. This post is a little trickier to follow as I am moving backwards and forwards between two opposing perspectives.

That wraps up this week Actifit Report and Update. In my next post, I will announce the winner of the Buying Selling Game. It is a little later than usual but other activities have delayed things a little.
