Is something burning?😳
“ Liz, it smells like we are having a wildfire nearby! “
In the middle of March…… that’s way too early!😮
Liz and Silvertop had just finished our hike.
The sky from the ridge top looking North towards Vancouver BC was extremely hazy!
As we neared home, one of our neighbors was burning some brush in his pasture.
“ That’s where all the smoke is coming from Silvertop! “
My friend from the tiny house was outside planting trees he just bought from a tree sale this morning………..
“ Silvertop, did you see the big wildfire on the natural gas pipeline! “ 😳
David said he spotted a fire burning on the pipeline yesterday, and then again today!
He said he left the area quickly, and called the Fire department!
“That’s very suspicious David, I wonder if it was set intentionally!” 🙄
After putting up our backpacks, we jumped in the car to check out the gas pipeline!
Many years ago, in a spot on Sumas Mountain five to six miles away, David witnessed this same natural gas pipeline burst!
He said it sounded like a 747 just crashed on the mountain side, and flames shot up 600 feet in the air!
We certainly don’t want a repeat of this!😮
I hiked up the smoldering pipeline hill…….
Up top look at what I found………….
Take a look at the four photo, someone built a campfire within six feet of the pipeline!😬
The back of Silvertop’s five acres is less than 1/8 mile from this wildfire on the pipeline!
A potentially dangerous situation was averted today, thanks to our local Fire department, and a quick phone call from one of our friends!😇
