As I strolled along the River Windrush, I spotted ducks paddling in the water and families enjoying picnics by the banks. The village has a delightful mix of small shops and tea rooms, and I couldn't resist stopping at a quaint café for a traditional cream tea. The scones were delightful, served with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam.
Continuing on my walk, I made my way towards Upper Slaughter, which is just a short distance away. The path was lined with wildflowers, and the scent of blooming hedgerows filled the air. I met a friendly couple who were also exploring the area. They were from London and shared their own adventures in the Cotswolds. It was lovely to exchange stories, and they recommended a few hidden gems I should visit next time.
Visiting the old church in Upper Slaughter was a highlight as well. The church dates back to the 12th century and has such an enchanting atmosphere. I took a moment to appreciate the history and the beautiful stained glass windows.
The final stretch of my walk took me through lush fields with sheep grazing peacefully. The views of the rolling hills were simply breathtaking, and I felt so fortunate to experience this slice of England's countryside.
Overall, it was a peaceful and enriching day filled with nature, history, and lovely conversations. I can't wait for my next walk in another part of this beautiful country!
