I went to the park for a trail walk today, feeling a little blue. Sometimes life is a bit overwhelming, and some of the issues we encounter seem insurmountable. Walking, I have discovered, is a wonderful antidote. Instead of allowing gloomy thoughts to start gathering over my head like storm clouds, I go to the trail! It pretty much works every time.
Getting out for a walk immediately gets oxygen to the brain. It gives you something to look at and enjoy that can quickly take your mind off your troubles, or give you the space needed to process them.
It helped, of course, that I was at my favorite park, at my favorite time of day, in one of my favorite seasons. Who can look at golden light filtering through beautiful autumn leaves and retain a bad attitude?
There was much to see at the park this evening. We’ve had some rain, so the creek was running. And the meadows are all turning to shades of gold and brown.
And the setting sun shining through trees made for some fun photography.
Thank you for visiting! And a shout out to @wesphilbin, host of #thoughtfuldailypost.
